Chapter 1037
Elizabeth thought for a moment and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Alexander looked at Elizabeth wistfully, "Where did you go?"
"I went to watch the Russell Family's drama," Elizabeth replied while ordering takeout.
Alexander laughed, "Did Henry beg you again to let Esme go?"
"Did he beg you?" Elizabeth added a bowl of porridge to the cart.
"Yes."
"What do you think?"
"I'm not that kind-hearted, you know that."
Elizabeth smirked, "Too bad, I'm not that kind-hearted either."
"Then we really are a perfect match," he said with a smile.
Elizabeth glanced at him and couldn't help but scoff, "In your eyes, aren't I 'cold-blooded' and 'venomous'? Didn't you call me 'the most vicious person in the world'?"
Alexander fell silent. His own cruel words from the past were now being thrown back at him.
For a moment, Alexander couldn't find his voice.
Elizabeth showed her phone screen to Alexander, "The takeout was seventy bucks. Don't forget to pay me back."
"And for tonight's caregiving services, that'll be a thousand dollars. Thanks in advance," she added.
Alexander replied, "I'd pay ten grand a day for a year of your caregiving."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "No way I'm being your caregiver. Too much hassle."
"How am I hassle?" Alexander was annoyed.
Elizabeth nudged Alexander's arm.
Alexander looked at her.
"What I said at your house, I meant it." She wasn't joking about ending things between them.
"What did you say? I don't remember." He turned his head, decisively avoiding the topic.
"Do you want me to say it again? I don't mind."
But he didn't want to hear it, raised his hand to cover his ears, his face full of frustration.
Elizabeth laughed, "Are you being childish? Do you think you can avoid it like this?"
Alexander glared at Elizabeth, "I don't agree to end it."
"Are you glaring at me?" Elizabeth pointed at Alexander.
Alexander didn't know how to respond.
She was still pointing at him, did he say anything?
"Are you pointing at me?" Alexander couldn't help but retort.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, the two of them glaring at each other, confronting each other.
At that moment, Elizabeth felt that this was the real Alexander.
The soft personality he had before wasn't Alexander at all!
"I said we should end it, did you hear me?" Elizabeth asked him forcefully.
He seemed about to sit up, "I said no, don't you understand my words?"
"Elizabeth, listen to me. You're the only one I want in this life. Wherever you go, I'll follow!" He gave Elizabeth a confident smirk, completely unapologetic.
Elizabeth laughed dryly, "Give me a break. If you start stalking me, I'll move overseas where you can't find me."
"Run wherever you want, but walking away from us isn't an option." He mimicked her dismissive tone.
The room fell silent.
They looked into each other's eyes.
Both of them squinted slightly.
Elizabeth could see the resolve in his eyes; he meant every word—no matter where she fled, he wouldn't let her go.
Alexander caught the wariness and uncertainty flickering across Elizabeth's face.
Did she really want to end it?
Maybe not.
