Chapter 1107
Elizabeth was drinking coffee, passing by the lounge, when she heard the sound of a TV broadcast from inside.
"Early this morning, the Russell Family..."
Elizabeth looked up, about to watch, but her phone suddenly rang. It was Lila.
Elizabeth looked away, not that interested in the Russell Family's affairs anymore.
"What's up, movie star? Why are you looking for me so early in the morning?" Elizabeth pushed open the office door.
She heard Lila on the other end of the line, "Look who's talking. You and Mr. Tudor are all over social media!"
Elizabeth chuckled, then heard Lila say, "Our Elizabeth has grown up. Why didn't you even comment on Alexander's Instagram post?"
"Why do I feel like you're gloating?" Elizabeth squinted, her voice softening a bit.
"I'm not!" She wouldn't admit that seeing Elizabeth make Alexander sweat was quite satisfying.
But satisfaction aside.
"Elizabeth, since you've decided to be with Alexander, don't be so cold to him," Lila advised.
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh, "Got it. And what about you? Are you being nice about all this?"
"Since you've already made your choice, you should face it properly. If I'm harsh, it'll only add to your troubles." Lila yawned, preparing for a magazine shoot later.
"By the way, did you watch the news?" Esme suddenly asked Elizabeth.
Elizabeth looked up, confused. "What news?"
Before Lila could respond, someone called out from across the room, "Lila! Someone's here to see you."
"Elizabeth, I've gotta run. Look up the news yourself!" With that, Lila ended the call.
Elizabeth frowned. The news had been full of stories about her and Alexander lately. What could be different now?
Despite her skepticism, she pulled up the news app on her phone anyway.
At that moment, among the news about her and Alexander, Elizabeth saw a piece of news that surprised her.
[This morning, the Russell Family's socialite Esme was taken out of the psychiatric hospital by a mysterious man and is currently missing.]
Elizabeth was slightly stunned.
Missing?
Ridiculous.
The Russell Family should have been keeping an eye on Esme. How could she go missing?
Wasn't this so-called mysterious man really Henry?
Henry loved his sister so much, he couldn't bear to see her suffer inside, so he took her away. It seemed reasonable, right?
Elizabeth leaned back in her chair, holding her phone, staring out the window, lost in thought.
Alexander sent a message: [What are you in the mood for dinner tonight?]
Elizabeth thought for a moment: [How about French?]
Alexander: [Perfect. I'll make a reservation and pick you up at 7.]
Elizabeth: [Did you see the news? Esme is missing.]
Alexander: [It has nothing to do with us. Let's live our lives as if she doesn't exist.]
Elizabeth thought of what Lila had said and couldn't help teasing him: [You're so cold-hearted.]
Alexander was about to instruct Nolan to make a reservation when he saw Elizabeth's message and laughed.
Wasn't it better that he was cold-hearted toward Esme?
Alexander: [If I had any feelings for her, I would lose you.]
Elizabeth stared at this message for a while, then smiled: [See you tonight.]
Turning off their phones, they each went about their own business.
Elizabeth quite liked this way of getting along. When they had time, they were together; when they didn't, they each did their own thing.
Neither would mess around, and both felt secure.
Evening.
French restaurant.
