Chapter 183

"Must've been some other woman," Charles grumbled. "He's so shameless!"

Elizabeth nodded, cursing too. "Totally shameless!"

"Don't worry, Elizabeth. There are so many men in the world. Once you divorce him, I'll help you find someone better!" Charles reassured her with a pat on the shoulder.

Elizabeth nodded firmly. "Okay, thanks!"

Meanwhile, Alexander, on his way to the hospital, sneezed hard.

He sniffled.

Next to him, Nolan asked cautiously, "Mr. Tudor, did you catch a cold? Need some medicine?"

"No..." Alexander started, but sneezed again.

He waved Nolan off.

Nolan glanced at the scratch marks on Alexander's neck. They were clear, obviously from a passionate moment.

It must've been Elizabeth who scratched him last night.

Even though Alexander and Elizabeth were heading for a divorce, the process had oddly brought them closer. It was a breakthrough in their relationship!

"Mr. Tudor, what about Ms. Russell?" Nolan asked softly.

Alexander sighed. "Take it one step at a time."

Nolan said, "Mr. Tudor, dragging this out isn't good for anyone."

Alexander's gaze fell on Nolan, his expression indifferent but intimidating.

Alexander, of course, understood that.

"My grandmother's pressuring me not to divorce Elizabeth, and the Tudor family won't accept Esme. What else can I do but balance both sides?" Alexander's voice was heavy.

"Mr. Tudor, but..." Nolan hesitated, unsure if he should continue.

Alexander frowned, signaling Nolan to speak freely.

"You say you're balancing both sides, but it seems like Mrs. Tudor is suffering more, right?" Nolan lowered his head, bracing for a scolding.

The elevator doors opened.

Alexander looked at Nolan.

Nolan waited for a reprimand but it never came. Instead, he saw Alexander step out of the elevator, looking lonely.

Nolan sighed and followed silently.

Alexander's heart was stirred by Nolan's words.

He pushed open the hospital room door and walked in.

Esme saw Alexander and smiled brightly. "Alexander."

"How are you today?" Alexander walked to the bedside and reached out to Nolan.

Nolan handed him the fruit he had bought.

Alexander took out an orange and looked up at Esme, who was smiling at him, not saying a word.

"Don't stare," Alexander reminded her.

Esme smiled and said, "Alexander, as long as I see you, I don't feel any pain."

"Where does it hurt?" Alexander asked.

Esme pouted and pointed to her back. "Here, it hurts."

Alexander knew she meant the scar.

With autumn coming, the scar would hurt more on windy and rainy days.

"And..." She held Alexander's hand and slowly placed it on her chest.

Alexander frowned and pulled his hand back immediately.

Seeing him avoid her, Esme was unhappy.

She still believed that a man's way of showing love was simple. If he didn't make love to her, he didn't love her.

Out of the corner of her eye, Esme saw the scratch marks on Alexander's neck. She paused and clenched her fists. 'Elizabeth!'
