Chapter 156
"Alexander? What are you doing here?" Declan asked, opening the door.
'Isn't Elizabeth supposed to be with Joseph? Why is Declan here too? Are their families already discussing an engagement?' Alexander thought.
Declan eyed Alexander and turned to Elizabeth. "Did you invite Alexander?"
"No, I came on my own," Alexander cut in, brushing past Declan into the private room.
Declan was taken aback by Alexander's rudeness. Normally, Alexander was polite to Declan and Rose, even if he didn't like Elizabeth. Today, his behavior was off.
Inside, only Elizabeth and Rose were present. They looked confused and stood up when they saw Alexander. Elizabeth frowned, clearly puzzled.
Alexander's expression was complicated. Elizabeth seemed to catch on and asked, "Are you here to catch someone cheating?"
Rose and Declan exchanged confused glances, not understanding the conversation.
Alexander didn't want to admit his real reason for being there. Joseph's absence made him doubt his judgment.
He composed himself and said, "Dad, Mom, I was downstairs on business and heard you were here, so I came to say hello."
Elizabeth fell silent. Rose looked shocked, and Declan didn't buy it. If Alexander was just saying hello, he wouldn't have barged in like that.
The room fell silent. Rose said gently, "Since you and Elizabeth are about to divorce, it's better not to call us Dad and Mom. Mr. Tudor, you're so accomplished; how could the Percy family match up to you?"
Alexander glanced at Elizabeth, who kept her head down, agreeing with Rose.
In the past, Elizabeth would argue back, but now she was resigned. She realized arguing was pointless. The fact proved Rose right. She and Alexander were incompatible.
Suddenly, there was a noise from the bathroom. Alexander's heart skipped a beat as he thought, 'There are indeed other people in the room!'
He stepped forward, expecting to see Joseph. But when the door opened, his mind went blank.
A man emerged, exclaiming, "Isn't this the famous Alexander? I'm your uncle, yet you helped someone deceive my artist. How despicable!"
Alexander fell silent.
