Chapter 1142

After the reporter left, Elizabeth finally had time to eat with Alexander.

Elizabeth said, "I made some tortellini. Eating light will help your wound heal faster."

Alexander gazed at her face, watching as she busied herself for him. He felt a deep warmth in his heart.

This was the real Elizabeth, truly loving him, making him feel safe.

"My wound is actually much better now. I think I can be discharged," Alexander said.

Elizabeth looked up at him and continued, "What? Really? Can we get married now?"

Alexander thought of what he had just said in front of the reporter. He couldn't help but laugh and then said, "Yes, we can."

"You can, but I can't." Elizabeth still wasn't ready to get married.

Alexander pouted.

Elizabeth then tapped his forehead and handed the spoon to Alexander, "Eat."

"My arm hurts," Alexander said, turning his head away. "I can't eat by myself."

Elizabeth squinted, "Seriously?"

"You know what I mean." His tone suddenly softened, becoming slightly playful.

Elizabeth stood there, not sure how to respond.

Alexander frowned. "Come on, feed me."

"Alexander, you're being ridiculous," Elizabeth pointed at him.

"How is that ridiculous? I'm your boyfriend. What's wrong with feeding your boyfriend? Is that a crime or something?" He asked with a shameless grin.

Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at his audacity.

"Alexander, you're almost thirty. Can you be a bit more mature?"

"I won't."

"You'll be a husband in the future. Don't you want to be a bit more mature?"

"I..." Alexander swallowed his words.

He looked at Elizabeth and swallowed.

He smiled gently, "If it's for being a husband in the future, I can be a bit more mature."

Elizabeth was amused and exasperated.

She picked up the bowl, scooped a tortellini, and handed it to Alexander, "Open your mouth."

Alexander obediently opened his mouth.

Elizabeth blew on the tortellini and fed it to him.

Alexander's eyelashes drooped slightly. Looking at Elizabeth's beautiful face, he felt indescribable emotions.

"Is it good?" Elizabeth asked.

He nodded, "It's good."

Elizabeth used to cook for him all the time, but he never got to eat it.

Now he finally got to eat Elizabeth's cooking.

"I used to be such a jerk," he couldn't help but sigh.

"It's all in the past, don't mention it again," Elizabeth's gaze fell on the bandage on his shoulder.

From this moment, their grievances were resolved.

She had saved his life once, and now he had returned the favor.

The bullet caught Alexander in the shoulder.

Valentin had been aiming for her—a shot meant for her heart.

A hit to the heart or head would have been fatal.

Alexander had put himself in the bullet's path.

"Okay," he nodded.

Elizabeth ate a tortellini, it was indeed delicious.

Suddenly, the door of the ward was knocked.

Elizabeth turned to look, it was the doctor.

"Ms. Percy, there's a report for you."

"What? For me?" Elizabeth looked at the person, confused.

"Yes, that night Mrs. Russell lost a lot of blood, and your blood type matched hers. Later, Mr. Russell asked us to do a DNA test between you and the Russell family."

Elizabeth still had tortellini in her mouth. She choked on it when she heard the doctor's words.

Alexander frowned too. He handed Elizabeth a tissue, patted her back, and asked, "What? DNA?"

"Yes," the doctor nodded, "Ms. Percy. I thought doing a DNA test was absurd, but the result is even more absurd."

Elizabeth's face turned red from coughing.

She looked at the doctor, completely confused.

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"What exactly are you saying?" Alexander reached out and took the DNA report from the doctor.
