Chapter 972

Elizabeth tightly gripped Alexander's hand, leaving marks on the back of his hand.

Alexander suddenly recalled their last argument when she agreed to the divorce. He had foolishly said that Esme was afraid of water, and she had pushed Esme into the water.

What did Elizabeth say at that time?

She said, "I'm also afraid of water."

She was genuinely afraid of water, not pretending. She had saved him, and because she was on the brink of death at that time, it left a shadow in her heart.

Alexander couldn't help but feel foolish.

The past made him afraid to remember; the more he remembered, the more it felt like a thorn in his heart, making it hard for him to breathe. His guilt towards Elizabeth grew, to the point where it felt suffocating.

Alexander held Elizabeth tightly.

The elevator made a crackling sound. The black and red lights alternated with darkness, and Elizabeth made no sound, showing immense strength.

Alexander gently stroked her back, "Don't be afraid."

"If I had known this would happen, I would have sent you home first. I'm sorry." His voice was soft, but his tone was full of guilt.

He truly felt sorry for Elizabeth.

With him, it seemed like nothing good ever happened to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth knelt completely on the ground, holding him with both hands. She could feel the warmth Alexander brought her.

"Are you cold?" he asked.

Elizabeth shook her head, perhaps because the elevator had stabilized. Or maybe because Alexander was by her side, her mindset gradually calmed down.

Alexander still took off his coat and draped it over her.

The familiar cold scent of Alexander filled her nostrils, and Elizabeth saw Alexander's face clearly in the dim light.

His brows were tightly furrowed, his breathing heavy, and his face was full of worry.

Compared to the elevator malfunction, it was Elizabeth that worried him more.

Elizabeth lowered her head, no longer looking at him.

He then held Elizabeth's hand. His hand had been cold just now, but now it was Elizabeth's turn.

She was so scared that her hands were cold.

Alexander quickly rubbed her hands, trying to give her some warmth. When people were scared, their hands got cold, but warming them up a bit helped a lot.

He was warming Elizabeth's hands.

Elizabeth quietly enjoyed the warmth he brought her.

It was so precious.

Did he have to hurt her first before giving her warmth?

A voice came from the elevator, and soon a voice came through, "Mr. Tudor?"

"Mr. Tudor? Can you hear me?"

It was from the flickering screen in the upper right corner, where a figure appeared, and the voice was intermittent, with a very unstable signal.

"We're trapped in the elevator! C02 elevator!" Alexander shouted towards the screen.

The person on the other side asked, "What? Mr. Tudor? Can you say that again?"

"Get rescue here quickly!" Alexander was losing his patience.

All his patience was reserved for Elizabeth.

This group of incompetent people infuriated him. The elevator malfunctioned, and they were still asking if they were in the elevator. Of course, they were in the elevator!

It took so long for someone to show up.

They should hurry and send someone for rescue!

"Mr. Tudor, our people are on their way. Please wait a moment! We're on our way!"

After saying this, the screen went dark.

After a while, it lit up again.

The signal was very poor.

Elizabeth took deep breaths to adjust her breathing. Because there were other voices, she felt significantly better.

Alexander asked Elizabeth, "How are you? Feeling better?"

Elizabeth nodded, "Much better."

She really didn't want to show this side of herself to Alexander.

But this aftermath of falling into the deep sea left her with no way to cope.
