Chapter 123

When she married Alexander, she swore she wouldn't lose. But didn't she end up losing completely?

"Go on, your grandpa's got me. You head to work. Seeing you just annoys me!" Declan nudged Elizabeth.

Elizabeth smiled and said something nice before leaving for work.

She knew Declan was lying. He loved her too much to be annoyed by her.

From childhood, Declan never pushed her to be a designer or a famous doctor. He just wanted her to be happy, healthy, and safe.

But her life was a mess.

After work, Lila called her out for dinner.

"How do you have time today?" Elizabeth teased.

Lila pulled out a chair for her. "How's your grandpa?"

"He's fine," Elizabeth replied.

Lila nodded, muttering, "I'm so bored at home, so I had to drag you out."

"Guess who I saw on my way here," Lila said, sipping water.

Elizabeth sighed, "Your arch-enemy?"

"Your arch-enemy," Lila rolled her eyes.

Elizabeth squinted, "That's a long list."

"Alexander!" Lila said.

Elizabeth paused, then sighed, "Lisbun's big, but I always run into him."

"Maybe our circles are just that small," Lila mused.

"He was alone today. If he'd brought Esme, I'd have definitely scolded him!" Lila's indignant look made Elizabeth laugh.

"Watch your image!" she reminded Lila.

Suddenly, Lila's phone rang.

Her agent had an urgent matter.

Elizabeth sighed and waved, "Go on, take care of it!"

Lila pouted, "Sorry. I didn't know I had something urgent!"

Elizabeth snorted, "You owe me!"

"Okay, I'll make it up to you later!" Lila hugged her briefly and hurried off.

Elizabeth stood by the window, watching Lila's agent's car waiting downstairs. Lila wore a hat and mask, moving quickly.

People envied Lila's glamorous life, but they didn't see the constraints behind the scenes.

Elizabeth sighed, took a few more bites, and planned to return to the hospital to be with Grant.

As she opened the private room door, she bumped into a familiar face.

"Ms. Percy?"

Elizabeth looked up to see a woman in her thirties, in a neat business suit.

"Sophie?" Elizabeth was surprised.

Sophie Watson said, "What a coincidence! My dad and I are having dinner here. Join us?"

"That wouldn't be appropriate." Elizabeth smile awkwardly..

"What's inappropriate? You know the person we're meeting." Sophie left a hint of mystery.

Elizabeth was pulled into the next private room.

Inside was a middle-aged man, reading a document.

Sophie smiled. "Dad, look."
