Chapter 971
Elizabeth glanced at Alexander and then pursed her lips.
What a boring man!
She really didn't know what she saw in Alexander back then.
Looking at him now, what did Alexander have besides a handsome face?
She really couldn't believe it! How could she have loved him for so many years just because of his looks?
As Elizabeth was feeling annoyed, the elevator suddenly shook.
Elizabeth looked up, and Alexander also raised his head.
The screen in the upper right corner suddenly flickered, and the elevator shook again. Then it began to shake violently, and the lights in the elevator went out.
Elizabeth and Alexander almost simultaneously stepped back, pressing against the elevator wall.
Alexander reached out to press the floor buttons, lighting up each one. But for some reason, it had no effect and instead made the elevator descend rapidly!
Elizabeth's heart was filled with fear, and the feeling of weightlessness made her heart race.
Surrounded by darkness, Elizabeth instinctively crouched down, suddenly breathing rapidly.
It was as if she was back in the deep sea, no matter how much she cried or shouted, no one could save her.
Just as Elizabeth was about to suffocate, her hand against the wall was suddenly held by Alexander. Then, the flashlight on his phone lit up, shining directly on her.
Elizabeth's eyes were hurt by the light, and she turned her head away.
"Elizabeth?" Alexander saw her pale face and immediately crouched in front of her, patiently calling, "Are you okay?"
Elizabeth took deep breaths, her heart racing.
She tried to open her eyes to look at Alexander and whispered, "Alexander."
"I'm here."
He nodded, his voice firm.
Elizabeth looked at Alexander but couldn't speak.
She kept trying to regulate her breathing, but the feeling of drowning in the sea kept resurfacing in her mind.
So terrifying.
That feeling of being swallowed by the deep sea made one feel as small as an ant.
Falling into the sea was like being a piece of driftwood, letting the waves push you wherever they wanted.
Alexander raised his hand to hug her, but before he could get close, Elizabeth had already leaned over, tightly wrapping her arms around him.
"Alexander, let me hold you for a while." Her voice was particularly weak.
Alexander clearly heard the panic and trembling in her voice.
She was scared.
"Are you afraid of the dark?" he asked softly.
Elizabeth shook her head.
No.
She was just a little afraid of this completely enclosed space, which made her think of the scenes of falling into the sea.
Elizabeth took deep breaths, tightly hugging Alexander.
Alexander could feel her strength. The elevator was descending, but they didn't know which floor it had reached.
The elevator made a buzzing sound, which was piercing and made it unclear what the problem was.
Alexander held Elizabeth with one arm while trying to find a signal on his phone with the other.
The elevator suddenly stopped, jerking violently. The sound was even more piercing.
Elizabeth instinctively shrank into Alexander's arms and couldn't help but call out, "Alexander."
Alexander immediately held Elizabeth's hand tightly. He put down his phone with the other hand and hugged her, constantly comforting her, "I'm here, don't be afraid."
"Elizabeth, it's okay. The elevator has a problem, but it seems safe for now. Don't be afraid!"
As he spoke, he picked up his phone again to turn on the flashlight.
The elevator finally stopped, but it was on the tenth floor.
At this moment, the alarm sounded in the elevator.
