Chapter 122
In the ward.
"Declan, how's Grand?" Joseph asked, standing by the bed.
"Nothing serious," Declan sighed. "But he needs to take it easy, avoid stress and overwork."
Joseph nodded. "My dad was supposed to come, but he had a last-minute business trip. So, he sent me. Sorry about that."
"It's fine. I don't mind." Declan waved it off. "Ask Elizabeth to book a restaurant for dinner tonight."
Joseph glanced at Elizabeth.
She was by the window, arms crossed, staring at a Alexander's car below.
Alexander hadn't left yet.
Elizabeth looked down, feeling annoyed.
"Elizabeth!" Declan called.
She finally looked up, pulling her gaze away.
"What are you thinking about?" Declan glared. 'Is her heart still with Alexander? Once the wound heals, the pain is forgotten! Just a little smile from Alexander, and Elizabeth runs back. So spineless!
"Nothing." Elizabeth smiled.
Joseph knew Elizabeth still loved Alexander, so he declined. "Declan, I'm sorry I can't have dinner with you tonight. I'm busy applying for the land near the airport."
Elizabeth then realized Declan had invited Joseph for dinner.
"Do you want that land too?" Declan was surprised. He'd heard Alexander was also after it.
"Yes, I plan to open a hotel," Joseph replied with a smile.
Declan sighed. "You are truly impressive. We're being outdone by you! Since you have things to do, I won't keep you. We have plenty of time in the future."
If Elizabeth and Joseph got married, they'd have plenty of time and chances to interact.
"Alright," Joseph nodded.
After some polite conversation, Joseph left.
When Elizabeth saw him off, she asked, "Is it hard to get that land?"
She wasn't involved in business and didn't understand much. She'd only heard Declan mention it was stressful because of many competitors.
"It's not hard, but the opponents are strong, which makes it tough," Joseph replied with a smile.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, half-understanding. She smiled. "Besides the four major families, the Stewart Group is the best. You shouldn't lose. Good luck."
Joseph was amused.
Should he tell Elizabeth that this formidable opponent was her husband, Alexander, from one of the four major families?
"Alright, if I succeed, I'll treat you to dinner," Joseph replied.
"See you." He patted Elizabeth's head and got into his car.
Elizabeth nodded, watching Joseph's car leave.
Turning, she saw Alexander's car still parked.
In the car, Alexander was looking at her coldly.
After confirming Joseph had left alone, he drove away.
Elizabeth squinted, feeling Alexander was inexplicable.
Back in the ward, Declan said, "I think your heart is still with Alexander!" He walked over and tapped Elizabeth's head.
Elizabeth rubbed her head and glared at Declan.
"Still glaring at me! Elizabeth, will you die if you don't like Alexander?" Declan snorted, getting angrier.
Elizabeth hugged Declan's arm and said, "Dad, I won't fall for the same man twice. Trust me!"
Declan snorted, 'Trust her? Her promises are useless!'
