Chapter 154
The next day, Elizabeth was going through medical records when she heard Lila over the headset, "Do you know about the cruise party next month?"
"Yeah," Elizabeth replied, not looking up. She wore a white lab coat over a pink shirt, looking pretty sharp.
Lila continued, "I went last year with one of the organizers. It was wild."
Elizabeth smiled. 'Of course, the world of the rich is always chaotic. To outsiders, though, it is just a chance to network.'
"A brand owner wants me to go with him this year. I'm not sure if I should," Lila yawned.
"I'll go," Elizabeth said.
Lila was surprised. "Wait, did I hear that right?"
Since marrying Alexander, Elizabeth hadn't attended these events. Now, with the divorce, she was back in the game.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and said playfully, "Maybe I'll find someone for a one-night stand. What do you think?"
Lila was silent for a moment, then asked, "Are you serious?"
Elizabeth chuckled. "Yep."
Lila said, "I bet you won't."
She was sure Elizabeth wouldn't go through with it.
Elizabeth sighed, "Let's go to the cruise party and find out."
Lila swallowed, sensing Elizabeth was serious.
"Elizabeth, you..." Lila's words were cut off by someone calling her to start the shoot.
Lila left, and Elizabeth hung up, her smile growing. She was suddenly looking forward to the cruise party. Maybe something unexpected would happen.
Her phone rang again.
Declan: [Don't forget dinner tonight.]
Elizabeth sighed: [Got it!]
She hung up and got back to work.
After work, Elizabeth hurried off. People at the hospital noticed she'd been leaving on time a lot lately.
As her car drove away, a black Porsche followed slowly.
Alexander was behind the wheel, his expression complicated.
Unbeknownst to him, a silver van was also tailing them.
Elizabeth's car stopped at the St. Regis Hotel.
The Porsche stopped too, and Alexander saw a man, bundled up, come out of the hotel.
The man patted Elizabeth on the head; they seemed close.
As Elizabeth got into the car, she glanced at the Porsche behind her.
She frowned. 'That car looks familiar, like Alexander's?'
But it was too far to see who was inside, so she didn't think much of it and drove off.
The car headed to a restaurant.
Elizabeth and the man walked in, chatting and laughing.
Alexander got out of the Porsche.
He watched them from a distance, feeling conflicted. Lately, Elizabeth had been with this man a lot, at hotels and restaurants. Even Kieran noticed something was off. Alexander must have his suspicions.
He frowned deeply, thought for a moment, and decided to call Elizabeth.
She recognized the number and hung up immediately.
But Alexander called again.
Elizabeth was annoyed and wanted to block him. However, knowing Alexander's stubborn nature, she figured he would just use another number to call her. So, she found a secluded place to answer the phone.
