Chapter 194
Allen was about to thank the person who helped her, but then she saw it was Elizabeth. Her mood instantly soured.
Elizabeth looked Allen up and down. Among the women, Elizabeth was quite attractive and dressed elegantly.
Allen, even at fifty, still had striking features.
Allen snorted, "What are you doing here?"
"Lisbun's not that big. Only a few good restaurants," Elizabeth replied with a faint smile.
Allen noticed Elizabeth was alone. "Ms. Percy, dining solo? You are so lonely. Unlike Esme, who always has Mr. Tudor with her."
Elizabeth's smile faltered. "If I recall, Mr. Tudor is your husband, right?" Allen said sarcastically.
Elizabeth regained her composure. "Yes, Ms. Russell loves my husband. Nothing I can do about it."
Allen was stunned. Her friends exchanged glances and laughed. Was Elizabeth implying Esme liked being a mistress?
Elizabeth sighed. Allen was clueless. Esme clung to Elizabeth's husband, and Allen thought it was something to brag about. What a shameless family!
Allen, feeling defeated, retorted, "Couldn't keep your husband, huh? That's why Esme took him."
"You're right, Mrs. Russell. I don't want that trash Alexander anymore. I'll give him to Esme," Elizabeth smirked.
Just then, Joseph returned.
Allen's face darkened. "Esme is not a trash can. What do you mean by giving her your unwanted trash? Elizabeth, if you can't handle it, don't insult others!"
Joseph heard Allen's shouting and quickly approached. "Mrs. Russell, what's the matter? Why so angry?"
Seeing Joseph, Allen frowned. 'Why was Joseph here with Elizabeth?'
"I'm just having dinner with Ms. Percy," Joseph explained.
Allen's face froze. Elizabeth smiled, "Mrs. Russell, I'm not that lonely after all!"
Allen fell silent.
Before she could say more, one of her friends pulled her aside. "Alright, Allen. Don't argue with these youngsters. Elizabeth's in a bad mood because of her marital issues. Don't provoke her."
Elizabeth quickly added, "If it weren't for Esme, I wouldn't have marital issues."
Allen turned pale with anger. Her friends quickly led her away.
Allen glared at Elizabeth, who remained expressionless, her eyes cold and sharp.
Allen snorted, disgusted with Elizabeth.
One friend asked, "Allen, why are you so hostile towards Elizabeth? She didn't do anything wrong! Don't you think Elizabeth's eyes look a bit like yours?"
Allen instantly became furious. "Like me? I don't dare compare myself to her!" Her face turned blushed.
"You really do look a bit alike, especially the eyes. Check your old photos," her friend continued.
Already angry, Allen became even more upset at the comparison. She didn't have a daughter like Elizabeth!
Thinking of this, Allen sighed.
