Chapter 1058
Leaving the bar, Elizabeth and Lila found a nearby café and sat outside.
Coral Harbor enjoyed perfect spring-like weather year-round, with clean air and stunning views. The night breeze gently brushed against their cheeks, soft and refreshing.
Elizabeth took a sip of coffee and saw Alexander and Kieran following them out.
Alexander and Kieran exchanged a glance and walked towards Elizabeth.
"So much for our girls' day out," Lila said, watching Kieran slide into the seat next to her.
He made himself comfortable, lounging as if he were on his own couch.
Elizabeth smiled. They were never going to have privacy anyway.
It might look like just the two of them, but who knew how many people were actually tailing them.
Elizabeth asked, "Where are you staying?"
"Us? We haven't found a hotel yet," Kieran blurted out.
Elizabeth and Lila exchanged confused glances.
"He's kidding," Alexander clarified.
"I thought so. Boss, if you haven't booked a hotel by now, were you planning to sleep on the streets?" Lila said with a slight smile, maintaining her professional politeness toward Kieran.
Lila always kept her work and personal life very separate.
Kieran grinned. "As if I would! Aren't you here? If I needed a place to stay, wouldn't you take me in?"
Lila smiled thinly. "Sorry to disappoint you, Boss, but I'm actually at Elizabeth's mercy for accommodation myself."
Saying this, Lila looked at Elizabeth. As if to say: right, Elizabeth?
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, saying nothing.
Kieran cleared his throat and then said, "We're staying at the same hotel as you."
"So you came specifically for us, right?" Lila said directly.
Kieran ran a hand through his hair. "What? No way. Alexander booked the room. I just tagged along."
Alexander shot Kieran a glare.
Alexander only mentioned coming to Coral Harbor, and Kieran booked the tickets and hotel. Now Kieran was throwing him under the bus. What a hypocrite.
Elizabeth and Lila looked at Alexander.
Alexander took a sip of coffee, grimaced, and said, "It's getting late. You shouldn't drink this stuff now, or you'll be up all night."
In other words: don't ask questions when everyone already knows the truth.
Kieran had booked the hotel.
"How do you know Holden?" Elizabeth asked, puzzled.
After all, Holden was the mayor of Coral Harbor.
"It's not strange. Tudor Group handled last year's development project in Coral Harbor," Alexander explained."
At that time, Coral Harbor was undergoing significant redevelopment. If Holden had mismanaged that project, he could have lost his position in a heartbeat.
Since Alexander had essentially saved Holden's career, it was no wonder Holden was being so deferential to him now.
Elizabeth nodded, understanding why Holden was so polite earlier.
"Holden's son is bound to cause trouble sooner or later," Kieran said with a frown. "If he gets into hot water, it could drag his father down with him."
"Don't worry about other people's business, just take care of yourself," Alexander said lazily, then glanced at his watch and looked up, his expression indifferent, "Shall we grab dinner and then head back to rest?"
Elizabeth and Lila had no objections.
Kieran wasn't asked for his opinion.
The four of them found a restaurant for dinner.
Being prominent figures, news of their outing quickly spread across all the major media outlets.
Elizabeth lay on the couch after taking a shower, casually scrolling through updates, but soon lost interest.
Before going to sleep, she found a few unread messages on Facebook.
It was Declan.
Declan: [I saw you went out, stay safe.]
Elizabeth smiled, Declan was still concerned about the news even when he was out.
Elizabeth turned over, just as Lila finished her shower. She climbed into bed and hugged Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth," she said softly. "I've missed this—sharing a bed with you. It's been way too long."
Elizabeth looked at Lila meaningfully.
