Chapter 136
The picture of Alexander throwing Elizabeth into the car was very clear. Soon, the clinic was buzzing about it.
Laura chimed in first, "The media catches everything. What's wrong with a couple having some fun?"
"Mr. Tudor and Dr. Percy look better together, both in height and looks," another doctor joked.
Everyone laughed, except Esme. She had seen the photos last night, and now her expression was even colder.
Last night, she had practically thrown herself at Alexander, almost stripping down to seduce him. But he had tossed her into a cold bathtub and walked away without hesitation!
Thinking about it made Esme's face flush. She had gone to such lengths, and Alexander still turned her down. If people found out, they'd laugh at her.
Especially Elizabeth. If she knew Esme had tried to seduce Alexander and failed, who knows how she'd mock her!
"Amanda, come with me for rounds," Amanda suddenly called out to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth nodded and followed her out.
Esme glared at Elizabeth's workstation, hatred in her eyes.
'Elizabeth! I've put up with you long enough. Don't push it!'
As soon as Elizabeth and Amanda stepped out, they ran into a furious Declan.
Declan shouted, "Elizabeth, get over here!"
Elizabeth felt embarrassed.
Everyone around was staring at her and Declan.
Elizabeth knew he must have seen the news and that's why he was so angry.
Elizabeth was pulled to a secluded spot by Declan, explaining, "Dad, listen to me. I was having dinner with Lila and just happened to run into Alexander!"
Declan turned around, and Elizabeth swallowed her words. She looked at him cautiously, unable to speak.
"Elizabeth, you told me yesterday you wouldn't fall into the same trap twice!" He held up his phone, showing the photos of the passionate kiss.
"That jerk Alexander, what does he mean? He doesn't love you, but he won't let you go?" Declan was so angry that his face turned red.
Elizabeth felt awkward. She hadn't handled her relationship with Alexander well, making Declan worry about her.
"Dad, it won't happen again." Elizabeth silently raised her hand and swore.
Declan was furious. He glared at Elizabeth, wanting to scold her but couldn't bring himself to do it.
Elizabeth lowered her head, "I'm sorry, Dad."
Declan didn't accept her apology and walked away without looking back.
Elizabeth watched Declan leave, feeling distressed. Just then, her phone rang.
Without checking the caller ID, she answered, "Hello, this is..."
"Elizabeth, it's me!" A cheerful voice came through the phone.
Elizabeth looked at her phone and found it was Lily.
Lily must have seen the news too.
"Why don't you and Alexander come over for dinner tonight? My friend caught some really fresh fish!" Lily joyfully suggested.
Elizabeth rubbed her forehead. "Grandma, tonight I..."
"Don't refuse me. I'll be sad! I'll ask Alexander to pick you up tonight, okay?" Lily knew she had to speak gently with Elizabeth.
Her tone was pleading. "I really want to see you!"
Elizabeth felt a bit troubled. Her heart was too kind!
"Alright, Grandma!" Elizabeth smiled and replied obediently.
After hanging up, Elizabeth slapped her forehead, sighing, 'How did I agree to that? If Declan knows, he would definitely scold me for having no self-respect. Life is really tough.'
