Chapter 905
Elizabeth checked the time. Aubrey's dad woke up much faster than she expected. It seemed to be just a knife wound, nothing more.
"But I don't have time right now. Is your dad with you? I'll visit him when I have time, okay?"
There was a moment of silence on Aubrey's end.
He said, "Dad said it's okay. He's very weak right now, and the doctor won't let him leave the hospital."
"Alright, we'll visit when we have time. Take good care of your dad, and call me if you need anything, okay?" Elizabeth's tone was gentle, like she was coaxing a child.
This made Alexander very jealous.
She never spoke to him in such a gentle tone!
Elizabeth coaxed Aubrey a bit more before hanging up the phone.
She saved the number.
Alexander asked her, "Was that Aubrey?"
"Yes. His dad woke up and wants to see us. Probably wants to see what his saviors look like," Elizabeth yawned and returned to her indifferent demeanor.
Alexander didn't understand, "Do you have to be so cold when you talk to me?"
Elizabeth looked up, "What? Am I cold?"
"Don't you think you're just brushing me off?" Alexander felt very hurt.
Elizabeth responded with an "Oh," even more dismissively.
Alexander felt that if being dismissive could kill, he would have died twice by now.
Too dismissive!
Alexander wasn't content to just sit there in silence.
So, after thinking for a while, he said, "Elizabeth, today your dad asked me what your favorite dish is."
"And what did you say?" Elizabeth didn't even look up.
"I said I didn't know."
This time, Elizabeth looked up.
Well, well, well. As expected of Alexander.
That was exactly the kind of answer Alexander would give.
"I really don't know. Even if you asked me, I couldn't say."
"Right."
"So, can I ask you, what's your favorite dish?"
Elizabeth laughed, "Why, do you want to get to know me, or do you want to learn to cook for me?"
"To get to know you, and I can also learn to cook for you."
"You?" Elizabeth looked Alexander up and down.
Him, learning to cook for her?
She must have saved the world in her past life.
"What kind of expression is that?"
Elizabeth was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, "Alexander, making money isn't easy. If you blow up the kitchen, the whole house will suffer. Take my advice, don't bother."
Alexander heard the full extent of the sarcasm in Elizabeth's tone.
"Just name a dish," Alexander insisted.
Elizabeth couldn't be bothered to name a dish.
If she wanted to eat something, she could make it herself. If she didn't want to cook, her parents could.
Who wanted to eat Alexander's cooking?
"How about a steak?" he suddenly asked.
Elizabeth looked up. How did he know she liked steak?
Thinking about it, Elizabeth glanced at the kitchen.
Did Declan tell him?
Elizabeth frowned. If Alexander guessed, then he guessed pretty accurately.
Just as Elizabeth was about to speak, her phone rang again.
Another unfamiliar number.
Elizabeth pressed to answer and heard the person on the other end ask, "Is this Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth frowned, "Hello, yes, this is she. Who's this?"
"Elizabeth, it's Thalia Fairchild. Do you remember me?" The girl's voice on the other end was clearly excited.
Thalia?
