Chapter 998
Elizabeth felt guilty, almost crushing the orange in her hand, and whispered, "I said, can Alexander come with me to visit you during the holidays?"
Celine placed her things on the table, then sat on the sofa and asked, "What? Doesn't he have a home?"
Elizabeth didn't know how to answer; the question was too tricky.
"Was he kicked out by the Tudor family?" She glanced sideways at Elizabeth, exuding a sense of pressure, very fierce.
Elizabeth didn't dare to speak but had to answer, "Not that."
Celine gave a cold smile and immediately followed up, "Then why isn't he going back to his own home? Why is he coming to ours? Is he crazy?"
"Grandma, he..." Elizabeth tried to explain.
"I don't agree," Celine directly vetoed, not listening to her explanation.
Elizabeth didn't know how to respond and looked at Grant.
Grant's face was even more serious, seemingly agreeing with Celine's statement, as he turned his gaze to the TV.
"You want him to visit us, are you giving him a chance?" Grant frowned, gripping the remote control tightly. "Have you thought it through? Is it just a momentary impulse?"
Elizabeth pressed her lips together, her expression becoming more complex.
Celine's intense scrutiny made her feel uneasy.
"Grandma, Alexander is different now. I want to give him a chance," Elizabeth confessed straightforwardly.
Celine's face remained cold. She was already angry, and hearing Elizabeth say she wanted to give him a chance made her even angrier.
"Elizabeth, have you forgotten how he hurt you before? Have you forgotten how you came back to the Percy family crying after divorcing him?" Celine scolded Elizabeth angrily.
What was so good about Alexander? Was there no other man in the world besides Alexander? Did she have to fall in love with Alexander again?
Elizabeth said, "Grandma, I remember, I will always remember."
"If you remember, then you shouldn't reconcile with him! It's not like there are no good men in this world," Celine said angrily.
It was as if they were back to that summer. She insisted on marrying Alexander, ignoring the family's disapproval, and insisted on marrying him!
Celine was worried that Elizabeth would argue with them again and eventually cut ties.
Celine had to soften her attitude and said, "Elizabeth, we're not trying to oppose your feelings, but we think Alexander is not the right person for you."
Celine spoke earnestly, her expression full of concern.
Wasn't Elizabeth hurt enough in those years?
Elizabeth didn't respond, just looked at Celine, feeling sorry in her heart.
Elizabeth had an unhappy life in those years, and her family was equally worried.
But now, turning around, Elizabeth wanted to forgive the person who hurt her. Elizabeth sighed, feeling complicated and conflicted.
Grant saw Elizabeth's low spirits and gave Celine a look, signaling her to stop talking.
"Think it over yourself," Celine said no more.
Elizabeth remained silent.
Celine got up to go back to her room, and Grant immediately followed to support her.
Elizabeth sat on the sofa, looking at the still-lit TV screen, feeling indescribable.
Grant glanced at Elizabeth from the stairs, then shook his head and said to Celine beside him, "But dear, love is inherently hard to control."
"I just hope she has thought it through. If she gets hurt again, she'll be ruined!" Celine said bluntly.
Grant frowned; everyone understood the reasoning.
After a long time, Elizabeth took her coat and left.
From the bedroom window, Celine watched Elizabeth's car slowly drive away.
Elizabeth drove aimlessly around the city, not knowing where to go.
She drove to Lisbun University.
Back then, when she pursued Alexander, she would go to Lisbun University every day.
Elizabeth propped her face, watching the people coming and going at the entrance of Lisbun University.
Feeling annoyed, Elizabeth pushed open the car door and got out, wanting to take a walk around the campus.
As soon as she got out of the car, she saw a familiar figure coming out of the school.
Alexander was wearing a loose hoodie and black pants. Over it, he wore a long down coat. His tall figure stood out among the students.
