Chapter 1094
Kieran heard this and inexplicably pressed the horn.
The honk of the car made both Lila and Kieran a lot more awake.
Kieran chuckled and asked Lila, "Really?"
"Why are you laughing? She basically said you're keeping me as your sugar baby, which isn't flattering for either of us," Lila said with a look of disdain.
Kieran frowned but shrugged it off. "God, if I could land you as my sugar baby, that would be the achievement of a lifetime."
Lila was far too sophisticated and independent for that.
Who could possibly buy her affection with money?
First, she wasn't hurting for cash.
And if someone actually could keep her with money, how loaded would they have to be?
They weren't gossiping about him behind his back; they were giving him way too much credit.
Lila stared at Kieran, who seemed to be in a daze.
Lila looked out the window, rubbed her arms, and said, "I was joking, she didn't say that, I was just teasing you."
"I know," Kieran said with a gentle smile, his voice soft and serious.
Lila couldn't help but glance at him, nodded, and said nothing more.
The car drove smoothly, and before long, Lila fell asleep.
Kieran rarely had such quiet time alone with Lila.
He was quite familiar with Coral Harbor.
He didn't drive the car back to the hotel but to a coastal beach.
It was dark, and there were small fireworks on the beach, with a few food trucks lined up, hanging warm yellow lights.
Kieran rolled down the car window a bit, and the sea breeze blew in, warm.
He turned to look at Lila, who sniffed and frowned, not sure if the sea breeze had blown on her.
Kieran took a blanket from the back and covered Lila with it.
Lila was a light sleeper. The moment the blanket touched her, her eyes fluttered open.
So, in the dim car, they looked at each other, but neither spoke.
Kieran looked at her eyebrows and eyes, gently tugged the blanket on her, and said, "Sorry, didn't mean to wake you."
Years on set had trained her to wake at the slightest disturbance.
Actually, when the wind blew on her, she wanted to open her eyes, but she was too tired.
"Why didn't we go back?" Lila's voice was a bit muffled.
Kieran saw her head turn towards him, her eyes hazy, with an indescribable tenderness.
It seemed that only at times like this did Lila let her guard down.
"I wanted to spend more time with you, is that not okay?" He leaned back and looked at the sea.
Lila smiled, "Mr. Getty, you're serious."
"Serious about what?"
"About liking me, you're serious."
"Do I look like I'm joking? Why do you keep questioning it?" Kieran was frustrated.
How much clearer could he be?
