Chapter 161
"Ms. Percy, you look just like a top actress!"
"Charles, after all these years, are you ever going to get her into showbiz?"
Everyone laughed, teasing Charles and Elizabeth.
Charles gave them a look, walked over to Elizabeth, and said, "No need for introductions, right?"
Everyone laughed. "Who doesn't know Ms. Percy?"
Elizabeth smiled. "Hi, everyone. Sorry for dropping by unannounced."
"Not at all, have a seat!" Someone pointed to the table, inviting Elizabeth to sit.
Elizabeth nodded and sat down with Charles.
They were there to discuss a historical drama. Charles, the company boss, wanted a lead role for his female artist.
The room was filled with industry bigwigs, mostly in their fifties, and more men than women. The few women present seemed gentle and approachable.
Elizabeth listened quietly while they chatted.
Then someone sat next to her and offered a drink. "Ms. Percy, care for a drink?"
Elizabeth looked up to see a gentleman in his fifties.
She shook her head. "Sorry, I drove here, so I can't drink."
Charles turned and smiled at the man. "Mr. Green, if you want to drink, drink with me! I'll drink for Elizabeth!"
Charles took the glass and downed it.
Neil Green pressed his lips and said, "Who wants to drink with you? Drinking with a woman is more fun."
A woman nearby chucked. "Exactly, Charles, what's the fun in drinking with you? Let Elizabeth drink!"
"Relax and have some fun! Have a drink!" The woman encouraged Elizabeth.
Charles and Elizabeth exchanged a glance.
Charles regretted bringing Elizabeth. He had forgotten how stunning she was. In the cutthroat entertainment world, these men wouldn't leave her alone.
Elizabeth noticed Charles' annoyance and said, "Alright. Mr. Green, I'll drink with you."
She smiled, poured some whiskey, but didn't drink it. Instead, she pushed it towards Neil. "Mr. Green, there's a rule."
"A rule?" Neil was intrigued.
Elizabeth pointed to the glass, raised an eyebrow, and said, "You drink first to show your sincerity."
Neil chuckled. "Why do you need sincerity to drink?"
"There are many ways to drink." Elizabeth poured another glass, swirling it. "If you don't drink, it means you just want to get me drunk. But if you drink, then I will..."
