Chapter 909

When Alexander returned, his hand was no longer wrapped in bandages.

He admitted, "My hand is actually fine, just a bit swollen and sore. The doctor told me to be careful and not to strain it."

Elizabeth glanced at him, acknowledging his honesty.

When he came back, she noticed his hand was no longer bandaged.

"Then drink a little less. Let's enjoy tonight!" Declan politely clinked glasses with Alexander.

Declan had prepared a lot of dishes, and the table was filled with delicious food. Elizabeth had just mentioned wanting to watch her figure, but seeing the spread, she couldn't help but dig in.

Declan often cooked a lot, but for some reason, today's meal tasted exceptionally good.

"Thank you for saving my daughter in Dream City. She saved your life before, and now you've saved hers. I guess that makes you even!" Declan raised his glass and downed his drink in one go.

Alexander shook his head, "I will always owe Elizabeth." As he spoke, he looked at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth calmly lowered her head.

She continued eating, not letting Alexander and Declan's words affect her appetite.

"Drop it," Declan waved his hand and continued, "I also thank you for speaking up for me at the bidding site that day."

"You knew?" Alexander was surprised.

Declan smiled, "I'm not an idiot. How could I not know? Besides, it was my oversight."

How could Alexander just happen to be at the bidding site?

Declan knew he didn't have enough qualifications for the bid at the time, but he still won it, which obviously had something to do with Alexander.

Alexander lowered his head, "So you invited me to dinner today just to thank me?"

"Otherwise, did you think I was accepting you and agreeing to let you marry Elizabeth?" Declan questioned him.

Alexander didn't know how to respond.

He really did think that.

Declan snorted, "Don't even think about it. I have no such plans at the moment!"

After all, Alexander was a businessman, and his best skill was finding loopholes.

So he quickly caught the key point in Declan's words.

"At the moment," Alexander said.

Declan paused, then responded, deflecting, "This fish is really good today, very fresh."

Rose perked up upon hearing this.

"Yeah, I saw the news on my way back. They said this fish was personally killed by Mr. Tudor. Declan, you must be something else to get Mr. Tudor to kill a fish for you. I think you're crazy!"

Declan laughed heartily.

Alexander just ate in silence.

Elizabeth could tell that Alexander was very tired.

Perhaps he felt helpless about the whole fish-killing thing too.

Pursuing someone you liked was like that; when emotions ran deep, you often lost yourself.

Wasn't Elizabeth the same back then, running to his house to do things she wasn't good at?

Why were Elara and Lily so good to Elizabeth? Because Elizabeth had done the same.

A socialite giving them massages.

Elizabeth took care of Lily like she was her own grandmother.

Why wouldn't they support Elizabeth and be good to her?

Now, Alexander was the same.

Maybe because Elizabeth had been through it, she could understand the helplessness in Alexander's eyes.

The meal was quite harmonious. Declan and Rose didn't tease Alexander anymore.

Alexander hadn't had a proper meal in a long time, and today's meal was definitely the best he'd had in months.

Seeing him eat, Elizabeth started to usher him out.

Alexander thought about helping with the dishes, but Rose indicated they had a dishwasher, so he didn't need to.

After thinking for a moment, Alexander said his goodbyes and left.

As Alexander was leaving, Declan said, "Let's meet again next time."

"Sure, Uncle Declan."

Alexander politely exchanged pleasantries with everyone and left with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth walked him to the door.

The night was very cold. Alexander pulled his coat tighter around him.

His driver was already waiting at the door.
