Chapter 1122
The people in the room almost simultaneously looked outside.
Valentin casually pulled up Elizabeth's clothes, his gaze sweeping towards the subordinate at the door, his eyes filled with displeasure.
Valentin was very unhappy with his sudden intrusion and even more displeased with what he had just said.
Who the hell was here? What did they want?
Whoever had the nerve to mess up Valentin's day was going to regret it big time.
"I don't know who it is, but they've been lingering outside," the subordinate said, holding a tablet with a surveillance image on it.
There was someone, but the image wasn't clear enough. The person's back was blurry, and their face was heavily covered.
Their actions indicated they were looking for an opportunity to break in.
Elizabeth glanced at the surveillance image.
Although the person's behavior was strange and their appearance was unclear, Elizabeth knew it was Winford.
She knew her person well.
Winford had come.
Elizabeth immediately felt at ease.
Her life might have its ups and downs, but with Winford around, she would never be in real trouble. Winford was like the stabilizing force in her life.
But Elizabeth also wondered, what was Alexander doing at this moment?
Compared to the sense of security Winford brought her, she also hoped Alexander could bring her the same.
"Catch that person and lock them up with the others! I don't want them ruining my plans!" Valentin's voice was rough.
Elizabeth glanced at Valentin, catching the key point in his words—others.
Who were those others?
Who else had he kidnapped?
In the empty warehouse next door, a man was hanging, and a small child lay unconscious on the ground.
Esme looked at the adult and child in front of her, stunned.
Who were they?
The man was very handsome, and the child was clean and cute.
Someone behind Esme pushed her, causing her to stumble a few steps, the noise waking the hanging man.
Esme examined him; his eyes were filled with murderous anger, not looking easy to deal with.
Esme heard the man behind her say, "You're all as good as dead. Enjoy your last night."
Esme immediately looked over and shouted, "Nonsense."
"Be careful not to provoke that man; he's very dangerous. After all, he dared to break into Mr. Dobbins' house alone to kill him," the man warned Esme, and then there was a loud "bang."
The warehouse door was slammed shut.
Esme quickly turned her head, meeting the man's gaze again.
The man's brow furrowed slightly. Esme noticed that his wrists were already chafed and bleeding from the ropes.
He must be in a lot of pain; his entire arm was somewhat purple, a sign of poor blood circulation.
Esme swallowed, her mind becoming clearer.
Why did he break into Valentin's house?
Why did he want to kill Valentin?
Did he have a grudge against Valentin too?
How could someone so capable be captured?
Esme had many questions but couldn't bring herself to ask any of them.
The man's gaze grew colder, and Esme couldn't help but feel a bit scared.
Although Esme knew the man wouldn't harm her in his current state, she still felt a bit apprehensive.
Esme retreated to a corner that felt somewhat safe and slowly sat down.
The man withdrew his gaze and looked at the child at his feet.
He spoke, calling out, "Aubrey."
"Guard the outside well. Kill anyone who comes, no matter how many. Even though this is Lisbun, don't be afraid. We have someone to take the fall, right?" Valentin said, playing with a knife and addressing his subordinate.
The subordinate laughed, instantly understanding.
With Valentin's words, their job would be much easier.
Elizabeth listened quietly. The person Valentin mentioned to take the fall was none other than Esme.
"Have you forgotten, Esme is a lunatic," Elizabeth reminded Valentin. "This is Lisbun, not Dream City. Just because Esme takes the fall for you doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Valentin, you better let me go quickly, or you won't have a good ending!"
