Chapter 1032
In the hospital, Elizabeth was rubbing her arms to keep warm. The person on the bed woke up.
Elizabeth turned her head and saw Alexander on the hospital bed, his eyes dim and very tired. They looked at each other, but neither of them spoke.
A nurse came in, saw that he was awake, and patiently asked about his condition.
He kept looking at Elizabeth, saying nothing.
Elizabeth gave the nurse a look, signaling her to go about her business. He seemed to be fine now.
"You are not allowed to drink anymore," Elizabeth said coldly.
He closed his eyes, turned his head away, and didn't look at her again.
Elizabeth frowned, "What do you mean by turning your head?"
Alexander didn't speak, his throat tight, unable to say a word.
Elizabeth poured a glass of water and asked him, "Do you want some water?"
He still didn't speak.
Elizabeth got annoyed, "Then I'll call Nolan to take care of you. I'm leaving."
He was so difficult to take care of, whoever could handle it should come. She certainly couldn't.
Alexander heard that she was leaving and finally opened his eyes. But she was standing by the bed, holding a cup, showing no intention of leaving.
"What are you pretending for?" Elizabeth said impatiently, handing him the cup, "Drink some water."
Alexander pursed his lips and slowly sat up, leaning against the window. His stomach felt a bit better, but he was still very uncomfortable.
He felt so weak, as if even breathing was difficult.
Elizabeth watched him drink the water.
Alexander glanced at her, then lowered his head.
"You are not allowed to drink anymore," Elizabeth repeated.
"Mind your own business," he said coldly.
Elizabeth was puzzled.
Alexander's words caught Elizabeth off guard.
"You don't want me, so don't care about me," Alexander looked into her eyes, his voice soft, like it could be blown away by the wind.
Elizabeth didn't know how to respond.
His eyes looked so pitiful when he looked at her. Like an innocent puppy, an abandoned kitten.
"You don't love me, you don't want me. Why do you care if I live or die? You shouldn't have cared just now, you should have let me die at home alone," he turned his head, looking like he was giving up on everything because of a small setback.
"Alexander, can you be a man?" Elizabeth couldn't help but scold him.
Alexander's face was cold, "No."
Elizabeth sighed, feeling frustrated.
He really was something.
Alexander didn't explain or try to keep her, just stayed in his depressed state.
He changed his tactics.
Neither tough nor soft approaches worked, so he played the pitiful card.
"Do you think we would really be happy together?" Elizabeth looked into his eyes and asked sincerely.
"Why do you think we wouldn't be happy together?" Alexander frowned, "Elizabeth, I just want to ask you one question, do you still like me?"
As long as Elizabeth still loved him, he was confident they would be happy together.
If Elizabeth didn't love him, he wasn't confident.
They looked at each other in silence. One was waiting for her answer, the other was looking into his eyes, not knowing whether to tell the truth or lie.
Elizabeth lowered her head, not answering the question.
"Why aren't you speaking? Is it because you don't want to, or you can't answer?" Alexander reached out and grabbed Elizabeth's wrist.
Elizabeth pulled his hand away, avoiding his gaze.
"If you don't speak, it means you still love me, right?" Alexander insisted on getting an answer.
Elizabeth was probably annoyed by the question, or maybe her emotions were too unstable.
She looked at him, her eyes inexplicably red, "Yes, I still love you. I still have fantasies about you, I'm still soft-hearted, so what?"
Alexander didn't know how to respond.
