Chapter 969
Alexander had attended several banquets before, and in the end, the most common complaint he heard from the female guests in various corners was, "My feet are killing me."
Elizabeth looked at the arm he extended and couldn't help but tease, "Should I take your arm?"
"If you don't want to, then forget it," he instinctively started to withdraw his hand.
Elizabeth smiled. She didn't take his arm but followed him into the venue.
Kieran was helping him by seeing off some of the older guests first.
Alexander quickly got involved as well.
Elizabeth saw her parents being escorted out by Nolan.
She mentioned that she was staying behind, and they only said, "Stay safe," before leaving with Nolan.
The attendees of the annual meeting were leaving in batches.
Elizabeth kept observing the situation below.
The news continued to report, but fortunately, the situation was under control.
There were only two casualties, with no further fatalities, but the number of injured had increased significantly.
It happened to be evening, around dinner time. Plus, this shop was quite popular, so there were many customers.
Ambulances came one after another, and the streets quickly cleared out, leaving only some nearby residents and shop owners.
It had to be said, in this regard, Lisbun did a great job. Any disaster could be controlled immediately.
Elizabeth sat on the sofa and looked up to see Alexander on the phone. Many people knew the Tudor Group's annual meeting was held here, so they called Alexander to ask if they were affected.
Alexander patiently explained to each caller. While seeing the guests out, he thanked them for coming today and said he would invite them to dinner another time since they didn't get to enjoy themselves fully.
Thinking about it, Alexander had it pretty tough.
He was the youngest in the industry.
Yet he stood at such a high peak.
She still remembered when Alexander first took over the Tudor Group. It was because Alexander's father had some health issues and had to let Alexander take over.
Many people outside were eyeing the Tudor Group covetously; the Tudor Group couldn't go a day without a leader.
Alexander hadn't even graduated at the time, only 22 years old, and became the acting president.
There was internal strife within the Tudor Group; some people didn't accept him.
Alexander bore the pressure and broke through the encirclement, making it to where he is now.
He had a tough time back then; those seniors stood on the highest moral ground, cursing with the dirtiest words and questioning him in the most doubtful tones, saying he couldn't do it.
Now it was different.
No one questioned him anymore; it was him questioning others.
He proved to those people with his real skills that he could do it.
Elizabeth sighed and couldn't help but lower her head.
Alexander happened to turn around and saw Elizabeth deep in thought, not knowing what she was thinking.
He saw off the last batch of guests.
The annual meeting venue quieted down.
The large venue, decorated luxuriously, even had prepared gifts that hadn't been given out.
Later, he would have someone deliver the New Year's gifts prepared by the Tudor Group to each family.
Alexander took a bottle of water and walked over to Elizabeth, handing it to her.
"Alright, I'll drive you home later," he said.
Elizabeth looked up.
Alexander's eyes showed a trace of fatigue, and his voice was a bit hoarse from talking all night.
"Is everything settled?" Elizabeth took the water.
He nodded.
Elizabeth then opened the bottle.
But she didn't drink it; instead, she handed it to Alexander.
"Have some water," her voice was a bit more gentle.
Alexander pursed his lips, somewhat incredulous.
