Chapter 1096

"Mr. Getty, you wouldn't feel like you're just a backup option again, would you?" Lila silently looked at Kieran, afraid that Kieran might think so.

If he told the media later that she treated him as a fallback plan and was being overly attentive, she'd be crucified online.

Although Kieran wasn't in the entertainment industry, he was still very popular and well-known.

"I didn't say that. Unless deep down you really see me as a backup!" Kieran quickly explained.

Lila snorted and didn't respond.

She looked at the scenery outside the window, the car window slowly rolled down, and the sea breeze gently blew on her cheeks, very gentle and comfortable.

Lila took a deep breath, the sea breeze tasted a bit salty, but it made her feel happy.

Although she had been in Coral Harbor for a few days, it seemed like only this moment was a real rest.

The night sea breeze was really hard to resist.

"If only time could stop at this moment," Lila couldn't help but sigh.

Kieran's gaze fell on her, seemingly feeling that Lila's soul was released at this moment.

Although Lila looked glamorous, the pain and suffering in private had to be swallowed by herself. She was actually exhausted, even though she was already in this position.

Lila closed her eyes and suddenly heard Kieran say, "Have you ever thought about not doing this job?"

"Not really."

This was how she made her living. She had no reason to stop.

"What about when you get married?"

"Even if I get married, a woman should have her own career. Depending entirely on a man isn't exactly a solid plan." Lila smiled, pragmatic as ever.

After all, TV dramas nowadays no longer portray the female lead relying on the male lead.

In the past, TV dramas were all about the husband betraying the marriage, and the female lead taking care of the family and children full-time.

Now it was all about the female lead seeking revenge, building a career, and being strong.

Times changed, and women's perspectives changed with them.

"That's only because you haven't met someone you can truly count on."

"No matter how reliable a man is, his money is always his money. It's never as satisfying as spending what you've earned yourself," Lila said matter-of-factly.

Kieran frowned, "Isn't it exhausting to be so clear-headed?"

"Yes."

She could clearly deceive men for money.

"Sometimes it's okay to let yourself get a little lost in the fog," he suggested.

Lila shook her head. "I'd rather not."

Kieran was both amused and helpless.

So being naive was problematic, but being too pragmatic was equally troublesome.

Lila's phone chimed with a text.

Elizabeth: [Aren't you coming back? Have you finished work?]

Lila: [All done. Catching the sea breeze with Kieran. Back soon.]

[Okay. Thought you were still working.]

[Congrats, by the way.]

[I'll wait for you to come back.]

Lila smiled. She decided to go back now.

"Let's go," Lila said to Kieran.

Kieran was stunned. "What? Not staying a bit longer?"

"Going back to celebrate with our Elizabeth," Lila stretched and yawned lazily, "Nothing is more important than Elizabeth."

Kieran nodded, saying as he drove away, "I really envy your relationship. It's something special."

"Aren't you and Alexander just as close?"

"Nah, just a business arrangement."

Lila laughed.

Kieran said that, but if there were any problems with their companies, they would be each other's strongest support.

Similarly, Elizabeth and Lila were the same.

Lila and Kieran soon arrived at the hotel.

In the elevator, the two were silent.

After getting out of the elevator, Lila and Kieran had to part ways. Their rooms were not in the same direction.
