Chapter 157
Alexander stared at the man in front of him, then glanced at Elizabeth, his usually cold eyes now confused.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and said to the man, "Didn't I tell you I'm divorcing him? And here you are, trying to play family."
"It's not final yet, right? What's the big deal?" The man snorted, pointing to the dining table and smiling at Alexander. "How about joining us for dinner?"
"Uncle!" Elizabeth snapped.
Charles Percy looked up and barked, "Why are you yelling? I'm not deaf!"
"This is a private family dinner. It's not appropriate for you to be here," Elizabeth said bluntly to Alexander.
But Alexander's focus was on Charles.
He thought, 'Elizabeth's been seeing Charles, not Joseph? The guy at the St. Regis Hotel was Charles?'
Everyone knew Grant had two sons. Declan, the eldest, was smart and excelled in business; Charles, the younger, was rebellious and hard to manage. People said he'd never amount to anything, but he built his own entertainment empire.
His company had numerous top-tier celebrities, including many famous stars.
Charles was born when Grant was old, so the Percys doted on him. He had a lively personality and was more like a friend to Elizabeth.
Charles often tried to get Elizabeth into the entertainment industry, but she always wanted a simple life with Alexander.
When Charles heard Elizabeth wanted a divorce, he was incredulous. He thought she was just fooling around. He believed she couldn't live without Alexander.
But seeing Elizabeth's attitude now, Charles had to believe she was serious. She was really willing to give up; she no longer loved Alexander.
After a moment, Charles pulled out a chair for Alexander and smiled. "Since you're here, why not join us for a meal?"
Charles insisted, so Elizabeth couldn't say much. She thought Alexander wouldn't stay since he didn't like Charles, thinking Charleswas only close to him because of his status.
But this time, Alexander sat down.
So, when everyone gathered around the table, the scene became quite dramatic.
Elizabeth took a sip of water, finding it amusing. When she loved him, she couldn't keep him. Now that she was pushing him away, he insisted on staying.
Declan sighed and glared at Charles. 'Charles is really meddlesome!'
The first half of the meal was quiet. Occasionally, Charles would chat with Alexander, but it would soon fall silent again. The meal was far from harmonious.
Charles had a few drinks and was slightly tipsy. He leaned back, pointing at Elizabeth and Rose, saying, "Elizabeth, you and your mom look more and more alike. I remember when you were little, you didn't look like..."
Before he could finish, he was kicked under the table.
Charles frowned and looked down, realizing it was Rose.
He assumed Rose had kicked the wrong person and didn't think much of it. Rose making such a move was somewhat inappropriate.
"Why did you stop? What was I like when I was little?" Elizabeth asked, sipping her water.
Rose forced a smile. "You don't show much resemblance when you're young." She glared at Charles, signaling him to stop talking nonsense.
Charles realized he almost said something wrong and quickly waved his hand. "I've been watching actors rehearse lately, and these lines just keep popping into my head."
Elizabeth looked at them, feeling like they were hiding something from her.
However, she did look more and more like Rose. When she was little, she didn't resemble Declan or Rose, so people often asked if she was picked up from outside by the Percy family.
