Chapter 1036
Henry took Elizabeth to a secluded emergency exit.
The lights turned on automatically, and the two looked at each other.
Elizabeth looked puzzled, "What are you doing?"
Henry stared at Elizabeth, his right hand clenched into a tight fist. He gritted his teeth, as if trying to muster up the courage.
Elizabeth looked at him, confused.
After a moment, Henry suddenly grabbed Elizabeth's arms with both hands and then knelt down.
Elizabeth was shocked and quickly bent down to help Henry, but Henry held her hands down, "Elizabeth!"
"Henry, what are you doing?"
Henry shook his head.
"Elizabeth, I know Alexander only listens to you now. I'm begging you, please ask Alexander to release Esme, okay?"
He looked up, his eyes bloodshot and full of pleading, "I swear, we will keep a close watch on Esme and never let her torment Alexander again. We will take Esme away, okay? Please, let Esme out, okay?"
The Russell Family didn't want anything anymore. No money, no fame, they just wanted Esme.
Elizabeth frowned, "Henry, this is a grudge between you and Alexander. I have no reason to get involved."
Henry looked up at Elizabeth. His lips moved, and his eyes were filled with doubt.
Elizabeth bit her lip, hearing Henry ask, "Is it really that you have no reason to get involved, or do you just not want to?"
Elizabeth was silent.
She admitted, she didn't want to get involved.
"Elizabeth, you also blame Esme for ruining your relationship with Alexander. That's why you don't want to get involved, right?"
Elizabeth's tone was calm, "You said it yourself, she ruined my marriage. Not taking action to make the situation worse is already kind enough. You want me to ask Alexander to release Esme? Henry, I can't do it."
She wasn't a good person, she could tell the whole world.
She couldn't ask Alexander to let Esme go.
Thinking about the disgusting things Esme had done to Elizabeth, Esme deserved to die.
"Henry, don't blame me for not helping Esme. She has tried to kill me countless times, not just Esme, but your mother too!"
They hung Elizabeth from a high building, and Elizabeth would never forget that feeling when she was on the brink of death.
"Henry, understand me if you can, if you can't, so be it."
After all these years, not many people had understood Elizabeth.
Henry clenched his hands tightly, seeing the unnegotiable refusal in Elizabeth's eyes.
The Russell Family was sentenced to death, with no way out.
Even if Henry knelt, even if he died, Elizabeth would not get involved again.
Henry slowly lowered his head, his hands falling.
He was completely disheartened.
Elizabeth thought of Ellen and gently reminded, "I noticed your mother doesn't look well, Henry. Take good care of her."
"Just my Mom? Do my dad and I look good?" Henry looked up at Elizabeth, his eyes filled with sarcasm, his tone somewhat self-deprecating.
Elizabeth didn't answer him and turned to leave.
"Elizabeth," Henry called her name.
Elizabeth stopped.
She turned to look at Henry, her expression indifferent.
"I'm sorry." He looked at Elizabeth sincerely, "I apologize on behalf of Esme, my mom, and the entire Russell Family. I'm sorry."
Elizabeth frowned.
She didn't respond and walked out the door.
She would never forgive the Russell Family.
The Russell Family would always be a thorn in her heart, just like Alexander.
After Elizabeth came out, she heard the doctor say, "The patient has been resuscitated, but is still in critical condition. Now being transferred to the ICU."
Elizabeth glanced at the doctor, said nothing, and turned to leave.
When she returned to Alexander's room, Alexander was clutching his stomach, his brows furrowed.
Elizabeth asked, "What's wrong?"
He didn't say anything.
