Chapter 146
Everyone here was an adult, and Joseph didn't want to beat around the bush.
No one was nice without a reason; there was always a motive.
He didn't want to hide his admiration for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was a bit surprised and said awkwardly, "I'm not divorced yet."
"I know."
"Mr. Stewart, are you willing to be my lover for love?" Elizabeth teased him.
The atmosphere lightened up. Joseph raised an eyebrow and said, "It's not impossible."
Elizabeth chuckled and looked out the window. "I'm not planning on starting a new relationship right now."
Joseph replied, "Then I'll just wait until you're ready."
Elizabeth felt a ripple in her heart.
She lowered her eyes and smiled, saying nothing more.
After dinner, Joseph drove Elizabeth home.
Declan and Rose were watching TV. Seeing Elizabeth return, Declan asked, "Did Joseph drive you back?"
"Yes." Elizabeth leaned tiredly on the sofa.
Declan snorted, "I saw Alexander at the hospital when I visited your grandfather today."
Elizabeth propped her face. The inpatient department of Evergreen Medical Center was all in one building, so it was normal to run into each other.
"You guys should hurry up and get divorced." Declan sighed.
Elizabeth lowered her head, "Got it."
Declan changed the subject. "In a little over a month, the annual cruise party in Lisbun will start again. Elizabeth, this year you represent the Percy family at the cruise party,"he instructed.
"No." Elizabeth lay on the sofa.
The cruise party was just a gathering of rich people, all about indulgence and extremely boring.
The party was chaotic. In the blink of an eye, something could have been slipped into their cups.
"You must go. No discussion!" Declan fumed.
Elizabeth was speechless. Why has Declan's mood been so unstable lately? He yelled after just a few words.
"Dad." Elizabeth hugged Declan and acted cute.
Declan pushed her away. "Don't act cute, it won't work!"
"Go and meet some new friends. Broaden your horizons!" Rose suggested.
Elizabeth pouted and snorted, "Fine, I'll go!"
But once she got back to her room, Elizabeth regretted it.
She always felt the cruise party wouldn't be peaceful; something always happened in previous years.
As long as she was not the protagonist of the trouble, it was fine.
The next day, Elizabeth got a call from Lila early in the morning, asking to go shopping together.
It was the weekend, so Elizabeth agreed.
In the mall, various luxury brand stores shone brightly.
Elizabeth sipped her coffee and looked around. "This summer's new arrivals just so-so."
Lila nodded in agreement. Her hair was tied up, and she only wore a mask, but it was clear she was a beauty.
Unconsciously, they walked into a jewelry store.
The clerk greeted them with a smile. "Welcome, ladies. How can I help you today?"
Elizabeth saw a set of emerald green jewelry: a necklace, ring, and earrings.
She looked at the designer's signature in the bottom right corner and saw Rose's other name—Grace Percy.
