Chapter 138
At the dinner table, Lily smiled at Alexander and Elizabeth and asked, "How's it going?"
"Pretty good," Alexander replied.
Elizabeth kept her head down, eating. Lily knew exactly how they were doing.
"Yeah, pretty good. I saw the news," Lily said with a grin. "It made me blush!"
Upon hearing that an elder like Lily had seen their intimate photos, Elizabeth was so embarrassed she wished she could disappear.
Lily gently gave Elizabeth some food and asked with a smile, "Elizabeth, since you and Alexander are so solid, when are you planning to have a kid?"
Elizabeth almost spat out her food.
She coughed a few times.
Alexander handed her a napkin and patted her back, looking a bit helpless.
Lily looked at them, amused, and said, "You two really have a great relationship."
Elizabeth gave Alexander a look, signaling him to answer.
Alexander frowned. He never lied to his grandmother, and Elizabeth knew that.
It was Elizabeth who was good at making Lily happy.
They exchanged glances, but neither spoke.
Lily cleared her throat and asked, "What's wrong? Are your eyes bothering you?"
"No," they both said in unison.
"Will I ever see your child? Will the Tudor family ever get a great-grandchild?" Lily put down her cutlery and seriously urged them to have a child.
Elizabeth said nothing and kept eating.
Alexander knew he had to speak up, so he said calmly, "Grandma, Elizabeth is still young. Let's wait a few more years."
Lily looked at them and sighed.
Just as she was about to say something, the doorbell rang.
The butler walked over and said, "Mrs. Lily Tudor, Ms. Russell is coming."
The three at the table were a bit taken aback.
Lily frowned and said unhappily, "Just say I'm not home."
"Mrs. Lily Tudor, Mr. Tudor's car is outside," the butler reminded softly.
Lily glared at Alexander and said impatiently, "Fine, let her in!"
Lily thought Esme was like a dog with a keen nose, always following Alexander's trail.
Esme came in with some gifts. Seeing the three happily talking at the table made her feel uncomfortable.
But she quickly put on a smile and said politely, "Mrs. Tudor, I came to see you."
"Alexander, Elizabeth, you're here too," she said with a smile, her gaze falling on Elizabeth.
Elizabeth didn't even look at her.
Esme's presence made Elizabeth lose her appetite.
Although Lily disliked Esme, she was still polite since Esme was the daughter of the Russell family. "Ms. Russell," she greeted.
Alexander stood up and walked towards Esme, taking the things from her hands. "No need to bring so many gifts. My grandmother doesn't lack anything."
Esme quickly glanced around and noticed there were no other gifts in the living room, indicating Elizabeth hadn't brought any.
She smiled and said, "How can I come to see Mrs. Tudor empty-handed? My parents taught me that bringing gifts to visit elders is basic etiquette."
At that, Elizabeth looked up. Esme's words were clearly aimed at her, making her realize she hadn't brought anything.
"Elizabeth, did you bring a gift for Mrs. Tudor too? Did we buy the same thing?" Esme asked.
Elizabeth finally looked at Esme, whose eyes were full of provocation.
Just as Elizabeth was at a loss for words, Lily's cold and serious voice came through. "Ms. Russell, that's not right. Elizabeth is Alexander's wife. Why would she need to bring a gift to have a meal here?"
Esme's face darkened, feeling that Lily was mocking her.
