Chapter 946
Alexander looked down at Elizabeth from above. His brows were furrowed, and Elizabeth was almost sitting on the ground, her purse placed beside her. She didn't look well at all.
"You drunk?" Alexander asked her.
Elizabeth tilted her face up and raised her phone again.
Alexander lowered his eyes and ended the video call on her phone.
Elizabeth pointed at him, "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to come? Who told you to come?"
Because she was drunk, her speech was somewhat incoherent. But that didn't stop her from getting up and pushing him, "Go away."
Alexander grabbed Elizabeth's wrist and asked, "What's wrong? Being with me makes you feel ashamed?"
Elizabeth glared at him, her eyes full of stubbornness and displeasure.
"Yes, ashamed!"
Alexander raised an eyebrow, not caring about what Elizabeth said. He just nodded, "Fine, I'll put on a mask when I take you out later. Is that okay?"
Anyway, everyone saw him come in. Even if he wore a mask when they went out, they would know it was him supporting Elizabeth.
Elizabeth ignored him. She took some medicine from her bag and was about to put it in her mouth.
Alexander's eyes darkened, and he quickly grabbed Elizabeth's wrist, afraid she might take something she shouldn't. He asked, "What are you taking? Who gave it to you?"
Elizabeth shook off Alexander's hand and said, "Hangover cures!"
She wasn't a child; she wouldn't take something given by someone else.
"You can't handle your liquor, yet you drink so much. If I hadn't come, you'd be sleeping here!" Alexander looked around. The bathroom wasn't dirty, but it was winter, and it was very cold. Elizabeth was wearing a thin dress without even a coat.
If she was found here in the morning, she'd be frozen stiff.
"If you hadn't come, I would have sobered up on my own!" Elizabeth retorted.
She put the hangover cures in her mouth, and Alexander frowned, "No water?"
"They're lozenges!" she snapped back, her attitude extremely bad, as if she wanted to flush Alexander down the toilet, confrontational.
Alexander silently watched Elizabeth, unable to say a word.
She was really fierce.
Elizabeth pushed Alexander's hand away, thinking about what Thalia had said, and her heart ached a bit.
He said he liked her but didn't tell her, didn't let her know, and in the end, he hurt her because of Esme.
She didn't believe it. She didn't believe Alexander liked her.
No man in this world could be relied on; relying on herself was better than relying on anyone else.
She didn't want to love Alexander anymore.
She only wanted to love herself.
"Elizabeth, why are you crying?"
Alexander's voice came to her ears.
Elizabeth then realized she was actually crying. Looking in the mirror, her eyes were red, and her expression was no longer as fierce as before; instead, it was full of grievance.
Alexander frowned. Although he and Elizabeth had been at odds for years, and he had bullied her a lot because of Esme, making her suffer, he had to admit that every time Elizabeth cried, his heart ached.
Hurting her like this was not his intention. He just didn't want Elizabeth to waste her time on him, didn't want her to like him anymore.
Alexander pursed his lips. He raised his hand to wipe Elizabeth's tears, his eyes full of pain and apology, and his heart tingled with a faint pain.
"Elizabeth, don't cry." His voice was gentle, as if coaxing a child.
But upon hearing his gentle and tempting words, Elizabeth's tears fell even more uncontrollably.
She turned her head, back to Alexander, wiping her tears, smudging her makeup.
Alexander was baffled.
