Chapter 967

The auditorium was crowded and noisy. Alexander's words slowly reached Elizabeth's ears.

Elizabeth couldn't help but glance at him, "What?"

Alexander pursed his lips, tightening his grip on the cup, feeling a bit uneasy. "You said you'd stay with me a little longer, can you say it again?"

He wanted to relive the moment.

Elizabeth didn't understand. Was this sentence really that important? Why did he want her to say it again?

But Elizabeth still obliged him, "I said, I'll stay with you a little longer, then go home."

Alexander smiled. He couldn't help but raise his hand, gently rubbing her hair with his fingertips. His voice was tender, and his eyes were full of love.

He said, "Okay."

Elizabeth was completely stunned.

Why was he suddenly being so gentle?

Alexander withdrew his hand as someone called him from the side.

He left.

Elizabeth couldn't help but raise her hand to tidy her hair, feeling puzzled.

"You two are so well-matched!" Rose's voice came from beside her.

Elizabeth looked at Rose wistfully, "But you said you won't let me remarry."

"I'm just saying you two are well-matched," Rose said.

Elizabeth then smiled faintly, "Mom, if only he had loved me before. I've asked myself this question a thousand, ten thousand times in my heart."

Even every time Alexander treated her gently, she would silently ask: If only he had treated her this gently and believed in her before, how great would that have been?

But unfortunately, there were no ifs.

"Alright, have a seat," Rose gestured for Elizabeth to sit.

Elizabeth shook her head, "No, I've been sitting all the time. I'm tired. I'll go for a walk!"

With that, Elizabeth left the hall.

At the end of the corridor was a large floor-to-ceiling window. Looking out, the city was bustling and magnificent. From above, people and traffic looked as small as ants.

Elizabeth crossed her arms and quietly gazed into the distance.

Elizabeth's phone suddenly rang. She took it out and saw a message from Felix about a racing event.

[Tomorrow night at 8 PM, Eaglecrest Mountain off-road race, want to join?]

Elizabeth opened the race information, which mentioned that many professional racers would be there, as well as many skilled off-road racers.

Elizabeth replied to Felix's message: [How about a life-and-death race?]

[What? Boss, are you okay? Why do you want a life-and-death race?]

[Add some stakes, it's more fun.]

[Then everyone racing against you would die?]

Elizabeth smirked: [Not really, I'd only race with those I don't like.]

[I don't think anyone would race you. After all, you're Steve.]

Steve, a title she hadn't heard in a long time.

Felix: [How about it? It's been a while since you relaxed, want to play?]

[Sure.]

[I'll pick you up tomorrow night. Welcome back, Steve.]

Elizabeth curved her lips into a smile and put her phone away.
