Chapter 990

The institute had started its year-end summary work. Elizabeth was fully immersed in her work.

In her spare time, Elizabeth visited her grandparents. Although Celine had issues with her hands, she still cared deeply about the institute. Every time Elizabeth visited, she updated Celine on the institute's progress.

Every time, Grant said, "Since Elizabeth is here, let her relax a bit. You always talk to her about work, she gets tired too!"

Celine would retort, "What do you know?"

Grant would then quietly mutter, "Yes, yes, I don't understand, only you do."

Although they always bickered, their feelings for each other remained as strong as ever.

Occasionally, Celine would say, "If I don't talk to Elizabeth about this, what else can I talk about? I can't ask her about her love life, it's a mess."

At this point, it wasn't Grant who fell silent, but Elizabeth.

Elizabeth had a headache.

Today, she had a rare day off and came over for a meal.

During the meal, Celine would subtly hint to Elizabeth, "It's about time, you've almost healed."

"I don't understand," Elizabeth replied.

Celine frowned, "You're smarter than anyone, do you really not understand what I'm saying?"

Elizabeth continued eating, indicating she really didn't understand.

Grant, who was always more straightforward than Celine, got anxious too, "It means you can date now!"

"I don't want a man, they're a nuisance," Elizabeth said happily while munching on beef.

They both huffed and ignored her.

Elizabeth had upset them and now had to coax them one by one. If she didn't, they would hold a grudge for days.

"Grandpa, have you been seeing that fortune teller lately?" Elizabeth suddenly teased.

Grant didn't respond.

Previously, Grant would say, "He really has skills, he's not just scamming me!"

It seemed Grant had really been scammed this time.

"Your grandpa isn't seeing the fortune teller anymore; he's been painting lately. Look, the paint on his hands hasn't come off in three days!" Celine pointed at Grant's hand.

Elizabeth had noticed when she arrived.

But Elizabeth thought it was good for him to cultivate some hobbies in his old age.

"I feel like I have something to do today, but I can't remember what it is," Elizabeth said, taking a sip of water and thinking for a long time without recalling.

"Is it work-related?" Celine asked.

Elizabeth shook her head; it didn't seem to be work-related.

It felt like something she had scheduled a few days ago.

Oh well, if she couldn't remember, she wouldn't think about it.

Elizabeth's phone rang; it was Alexander.

Elizabeth got up and went to the window, "What's up?"

"I'm at your place, here to take you out for dinner," he said.

Elizabeth looked up, what?

"I'm not home, I'm at my grandparents' place, and I've already had dinner with them."

Alexander asked, "Elizabeth, did you forget you told me yesterday that we'd have dinner together today?"

Elizabeth paused.

What?

She knew it. She had a feeling she had something to do but couldn't remember what it was!

Until Alexander called, Elizabeth hadn't realized it was related to him.

"Elizabeth, I've been waiting for your day off for a week," Alexander's tone was clearly a bit irritated.

Elizabeth felt awkward.

"It's really hard to see you." He had even gone to the institute yesterday, only to be told she was out on work.

Elizabeth looked down, kicking the ground.

In the silence, she suddenly heard Alexander ask, "When are you coming back?"

"I want to spend more time with my grandparents."
