Chapter 1082
Alexander couldn't help but look at Elizabeth.
This topic was supposed to be brought up by Alexander first, but unexpectedly, Elizabeth spoke to Declan first.
Declan looked at Elizabeth for a while, then finally turned his gaze to Alexander.
Elizabeth eventually said it. Although Declan had anticipated that they would remarry sooner or later, he didn't expect this day to come so soon.
Sure enough, Elizabeth couldn't resist Alexander's pursuit.
Declan considered Elizabeth to be a sensible person, yet she was still willing to give Alexander another chance.
Declan sighed deeply, staring at Alexander for a long, long time.
Sunlight streamed through the window, highlighting the troubled expression on his face.
"You speak," Declan said, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
He wanted to hear from Alexander, not Elizabeth.
Alexander was still processing his surprise that Elizabeth wanted to remarry him.
Elizabeth had agreed. Now he just needed Declan's approval.
Alexander was afraid that Declan wouldn't agree, and they would have to go through more twists and turns.
Alexander pursed his lips, visibly nervous.
This moment felt more nerve-wracking than any business negotiation he'd ever faced.
Alexander straightened his back, holding the coffee cup with both hands. He looked at Elizabeth several times, then at Declan, "Declan, I'm serious, I want to remarry Elizabeth."
"I know I made some mistakes before that hurt you and Elizabeth. But I swear, it will never happen again."
Alexander frowned, looking particularly serious, his eyes heavy, "That incident was a misunderstanding, but I take full responsibility. I failed to love Elizabeth the way she deserved."
"I love Elizabeth, not because she saved me, but because I truly love her with every fiber of my being."
Declan listened, feeling no emotional waves, but instead smiled, "You say you love her, what do you love about her? Do you understand her? Do you know what she truly wants?"
Alexander nodded, "What Elizabeth wants is actually quite simple. She wants me fully present in her life—coming home on time, sharing meals with her, going shopping together."
"She wants my genuine love, that's all. As for whether I understand her—I wouldn't have claimed to before, but now, I truly do." Alexander's gaze fell on Elizabeth.
He finally understood her.
She appreciated romance—the roses, the fireworks.
She wanted a home to call her own, where she could arrange everything just as she liked.
Elizabeth was, at heart, uncomplicated.
During all their years together, she had asked for very little.
All she ever wanted was his sincere devotion.
Alexander looked at Elizabeth, his eyes particularly serious.
"I will treat her better than anyone else could. I'm asking for a chance to prove it."
Declan snorted coldly, "Talk is cheap."
"I'm not just talking," Alexander countered. "I've already initiated the transfer of ten percent of my shares in the Tudor Group to Elizabeth. The paperwork is being processed as we speak."
Both Declan and Elizabeth stared at Alexander in shock.
What?
Declan was especially stunned; Alexander actually transferred shares of the Tudor Group to Elizabeth?
"This is just a guarantee for Elizabeth," Alexander said to Declan, "Even if you don't approve of our remarriage, this will stand as my compensation for the pain I've caused her."
Alexander was making amends for his past wrongs.
As a businessman, Declan understood perfectly what those shares represented.
In any corporate power struggle, that ten percent could be decisive.
The fact that Alexander was willing to part with such a significant stake spoke volumes.
