Chapter 1118
The news from Lisbun was reporting on the fire, while interspersed with the news of Elizabeth's kidnapping.
In addition, there was also news about Esme being taken away from the psychiatric hospital.
Winford looked at the news on his phone, listening to Oliver through his earphones, his brow furrowing repeatedly.
Winford suddenly remembered that when Elizabeth was at the mall, she asked him to investigate Esme's whereabouts and see who took Esme away.
Could Elizabeth have been kidnapped by Esme?
"Oliver, check the psychiatric hospital's surveillance again and see who took Esme away today. By the way, did you identify the voice of that man earlier? Whose voice was it?"
Winford was very anxious; every minute Elizabeth remained out there, she was in danger.
Although Elizabeth was agile and had some skills, it was clear that this time she was caught off guard, and she had no defense against the fire.
But then again, how did this person know Elizabeth would go to the mall?
Or was the other party always prepared, just for this moment?
The more Winford thought about it, the more annoyed he became, so he simply stopped thinking about it.
The phone rang again, and it was a photo from Oliver, showing the man's face clearly yet vaguely.
You could see a face but not the features.
After discovering the surveillance, the man turned his back to the camera the whole time. Esme didn't leave with him but was carried out unconscious on his shoulder.
"We're here," Callum said flatly, pulling Winford back to reality.
Winford looked up. The abandoned factory was empty, but there were two cars worth over two hundred thousand dollars at the entrance.
The license plates clearly belonged to Dream City.
This was definitely the place.
Winford got out of the car, and the people in the car behind him also got out.
The place was desolate, and the air felt ice-cold with each breath.
Oliver said, "The drone has scanned the entire area. No immediate threats, but I've spotted the Boss in a warehouse at the center. Guards posted around the perimeter. Watch yourself—they're armed."
Winford looked up, taking in the scene.
'Crazy,' he thought. 'What kind of operation is this, flashing firearms out in the open?'
Then again, realizing they were likely Dream City operatives, it suddenly made sense.
Guns in Dream City were essentially unregulated, but here in Lisbun, carrying was a serious felony.
"And there's a child," Oliver suddenly said.
Winford frowned. A child?
"Winford, wait, there's someone else," Oliver's tone suddenly became alert.
Winford heard Oliver say, "Winford, in a warehouse at nine o'clock, there's an adult and a child. The adult is hanging from a beam, and the child is lying on the ground. There are guards outside as well."
Winford frowned, "Got it. We'll rescue them together later."
Callum had already started finding positions and making plans with Atticus.
"We'll drive to the side, we can get the car in here. Then we'll climb over the wall," Callum said.
Winford sighed, heavy-hearted.
"Just so you know, there are cameras inside, plus patrol teams," Oliver said.
"Wait, this person looks familiar," Oliver frowned.
Winford said, "Send me the photo."
Oliver quickly sent it.
Winford was slightly stunned, "You think this leader looks familiar?"
Oliver replied, "Yeah, from Dream City, don't you think he looks like..."
Before he could finish, Oliver and Winford almost said in unison, "Valentin! The second son of Dream City's ruler!"
Winford seemed to realize something, "Last time when we went to Dream City for the research institute, Boss did have a bit of a conflict with Valentin."
"So this person is Valentin," Winford was surprised, "Is his thinking really that small-minded? Did he come all the way from Dream City to kidnap our Boss? Or is there someone else behind this?"
"Oliver, did you find Esme's location?" Winford asked while following Callum's lead.
"Not yet. The signal is weak up ahead, there might be a signal jammer. I'll crack it in a bit, then you can move closer."
Winford and Callum waited in place.
