Chapter 1139

A woman's scream pierced through the eardrums.

Elizabeth turned her head and saw the police and family members rushing in from outside.

Allen almost ran in, desperately trying to throw himself onto Esme.

Esme had fallen to the ground, writhing, and finally, she slowly stopped moving.

She had been looking at Elizabeth the whole time.

Esme faintly moved her lips. Maybe she wanted to say "I'm sorry." Or perhaps, she had some resentment to express.

But none of that mattered anymore.

This was Esme's life, a fate she brought upon herself.

Esme could have been safe and sound. She was pampered all her life, becoming the little princess of the Russell Family and Elizabeth's good friend. But Esme chose such an ending.

"Esme." Allen's voice was particularly harsh.

The TV screen was still broadcasting this absurd farce.

Online viewers watched this scene, unable to type a single word.

They had expected to see Alexander make a choice, but they didn't expect to watch Esme burn alive!

"Boss," Winford suddenly called out to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth looked at Winford, not even realizing that her eyes had turned red and a tear was slowly falling from the corner of her eye.

Perhaps this tear was for Esme, or maybe it was for Elizabeth's own unspeakable past.

"Stop feeling sorry for her. You should think about what you're going to do," Valentin's voice intruded into her ears.

Elizabeth turned around and saw Valentin slowly standing up.

The police ran in from outside, and Elizabeth hurriedly stopped them, "Don't go over there!"

"All of you, stay back!" Elizabeth looked at Alexander, pushing him back.

Because she saw the remote control in Valentin's hand!

Damn it.

She had been distracted by Esme and forgot that the remote control was still there.

Valentin had picked it up again.

"Valentin. You are surrounded. There's no way out! This is Lisbun, not a place for you to do as you please!" the police shouted at Valentin.

Alexander, however, held Elizabeth's hand tightly. He looked at Elizabeth with deep eyes; he wouldn't retreat. He would only move forward with Elizabeth.

In the past, he would have let go of Elizabeth's hand, but from now on, he wouldn't.

He would never let go of Elizabeth's hand again.

Wherever Elizabeth wanted to go, he would go, even if it meant death.

"We'll die," Elizabeth said with a smile, raising the corners of her mouth.

Valentin was a madman. As long as he detonated the bomb, she would die!

Alexander still had time to retreat!

"I know," Alexander nodded, looking at her seriously, "Then we'll die together, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth bit her lip, her smile suddenly freezing, feeling a bit bitter.

"You just fell in love with me, and now I'm going to die. Isn't that cruel?" Elizabeth asked him.

"I'd love you beyond death itself. If there's another life after this one, I'll find you there too. From this moment on, it's only you—it's always been you," Alexander's voice was gentle as he raised his hand to gently arrange the stray hair by Elizabeth's ear.

Elizabeth felt tears welling in her eyes, unable to hold them back.

It was when we faced our mortality that our hearts were most exposed.

And in this fragile moment, Alexander's words broke through every wall she had built.

Elizabeth sniffed, "Swear it."

"Okay. I swear," he nodded, raising his hand over his head, but before he could speak.

Elizabeth stood on her tiptoes and suddenly kissed his lips.

She believed him.
