Chapter 1039
Elizabeth sighed.
Alexander suddenly squatted down, surprising Elizabeth, and she saw Alexander massaging her legs.
Elizabeth suddenly froze.
His fingertips applied just the right amount of pressure, making her feel very comfortable.
Elizabeth even felt a bit dazed.
"Does it feel better?" he asked.
Elizabeth swallowed, clearly feeling the pressure of his fingertips on her legs, which made her heart race.
She could hardly imagine how happy Esme must have been before.
Thinking of this, Elizabeth deliberately said, "No, it doesn't."
Alexander looked into her eyes, as if he could tell she was being petulant, and chuckled softly as he continued massaging her legs.
Elizabeth was very thin, with little flesh on her calves. He was afraid he might hurt her if he pressed too hard.
He looked up, about to ask again, "Still not better?"
She replied, "Still not better."
He laughed, "Then I'll just keep massaging."
"My shoulders hurt too," Elizabeth said pointedly.
He stood up and nodded, "Got it."
He sat next to Elizabeth and started massaging her shoulders.
"Anywhere else bothering you?"
"Everywhere," Elizabeth said irritably.
Alexander realized she was not just being petulant but also a bit angry.
He asked with amusement, "What did I do to offend you?"
"I just don't like you," Elizabeth said disdainfully.
Alexander clicked his tongue, "Well, that's that then. Not much I can do about it."
Elizabeth scoffed coldly.
At seven in the morning, the hospital was already crowded.
Elizabeth washed her face and tied up her hair.
"Medicine," Elizabeth threw the medicine onto the bedside table, "Nolan will be here in five minutes. You wait for him. I'm going home first."
Alexander said, "Let Nolan take you home."
Elizabeth shook her head and refused, turning to leave without looking back.
Alexander shrugged, already used to Elizabeth's hurried demeanor.
After Elizabeth walked out, she turned back and pointed at him, "Alexander, we're done. I'm not joking about this."
'Here we go again,' he thought.
This time, Elizabeth stormed off with even more determination.
As soon as Elizabeth reached the hospital entrance, she saw Henry coming out, apparently heading to grab breakfast.
They locked eyes but neither spoke a word.
Henry continued into the hospital, glancing back at Elizabeth as he passed, and noticed Nolan walking inside.
Henry frowned. Nolan?
Could it be that Alexander was in the hospital?
Henry followed Nolan and indeed saw Alexander in the emergency room.
The moment Alexander looked up, he also saw Henry.
Henry opened his mouth, clearly about to say something.
"Mr. Russell, has the hospitalization been arranged?" a doctor nearby interrupted Henry.
Henry nodded, "Yes."
Alexander threw the medicine to Nolan, got dressed, and left.
"Mr. Tudor," Henry still called out to him.
Alexander didn't stop, leaving decisively.
Henry smiled bitterly, Alexander was truly heartless. Alexander was even more heartless than Elizabeth.
"Mr. Russell has changed a lot," Nolan sighed.
"How are things with the Russell family?" Alexander asked.
Nolan answered truthfully, "Not good; the company's barely functioning at this point."
"Don't waste your energy on it. The Russells' survival is in their own hands now," Alexander rubbed his temples, visibly exhausted.
"Mr. Tudor, what brings you to the hospital?"
"Had drinks with Elizabeth's uncle. Feeling under the weather."
Thinking of this, Alexander once again thought of Elizabeth saying they were done.
Alexander lowered his gaze, his usual confidence—so evident when Elizabeth was around—now replaced with unmistakable sadness.
