Chapter 159

"Alexander, we're divorced. Please do not concern yourself with or interfere in my life. Who I met at the St. Regis Hotel or had dinner with today is none of your business. Got it?" Elizabeth's voice was a bit rough.

Her eyelashes fluttered, and there was a complex emotion in her eyes.

Alexander just stared at her, his voice heavy. "Don't say things in anger. Do you think I'll believe you?"

"Believe it or not, it's the truth," Elizabeth sighed. "Charles gets along with everyone. If he asks you for anything, just ignore him. He won't be mad. I'll explain our situation to him later."

Alexander frowned, feeling irritated by Elizabeth's calm words.

She wasn't causing a scene.

Elizabeth had really changed. She wasn't his anymore.

Just like he had asked, she was leaving him alone.

Elizabeth checked the time and looked at Alexander. "It's late. You should go."

"Elizabeth," Alexander called softly.

Elizabeth looked up and said gently, "Just like I don't interfere with your life with Esme, don't interfere with mine."

She pressed her lips together, her eyelashes trembling slightly, and continued, "Alexander, let's completely disappear from each other's lives."

'Let's consider these years a dream I'm finally waking up from,' she thought to herself.

She had tried, and she had no regrets.

'But Alexander,' Elizabeth thought, looking at the face she had loved for so long, 'Will you regret losing me? Will you ever think you should have cherished me?'

Elizabeth turned away.

Alexander grabbed her arm, pulling her back.

She stumbled and ended up against the wall.

He moved closer, his cool scent filling her senses.

When she looked up, he was lowering his eyes, getting closer.

Whether it was the alcohol or something else, Elizabeth saw reluctance on his face.

'Am I mistaken? Does Alexander like me a little?' Elizabeth didn't dare to think about it, afraid of disappointment.

She didn't want to be tangled in love anymore. She wanted to be the protagonist of her own story.

Life was vast and beautiful; there were many people to meet and things to experience.

Maybe she wasn't ready to love someone else now, but in the future, there would be someone better, someone who only loved her.

That person could have been Joseph or someone else, but it definitely couldn't have been Alexander anymore.

The pain she endured with Alexander had left her scarred. she didn't want to go through it again.

Elizabeth removed his hand and heard him say, "Wasn't your decisive departure from me because you had fallen for someone else?"

His doubt made Elizabeth find it even more ridiculous.

"What does it have to do with you?" she snorted.

"If it has nothing to do with me, then who does it have to do with?"

"We're already divorced. I've said this many times. Alexander, understand your place. You're just my ex-husband now." Elizabeth said mercilessly.
