Chapter 1089

People who weren't meant to be together will drift apart like leaves in the wind.

"Lila!" Elisha called her.

Lila looked up.

"We need you for the final scene, and afterward the crew wants to take you and Mr. Getty out for dinner!"

"That's really sweet, Elisha, but we'll have to pass on dinner after we wrap," Lila said as she stood up.

She wasn't sure if it was from today's long shoot or the harsh midday sun, but the moment she got to her feet, a wave of dizziness hit her.

Lila swayed slightly, trying to steady herself.

Kieran, who was standing closest to her, noticed something was wrong and quickly stepped forward to support her.

Lila instinctively grabbed his arm for support.

"Got up too fast," she murmured. "Just a little dizzy."

Kieran could tell it was more than that. "Should I ask Elisha to hold off for a few minutes?"

Lila shook her head. "Do you have any candy on you?"

Kieran paused.

Candy?

He didn't carry sweets—never had much of a sweet tooth.

"Wait here for a moment." He helped Lila back into her seat. "I saw a convenience store when I came in. I'll grab something. Would you prefer candy or chocolate? Is your blood sugar dropping?" He carefully adjusted the umbrella to better shield her from the sun.

Lila closed her eyes as she listened to him.

When Kieran was gentle like this, he was incredibly tender. His soft voice in her ear only made her feel more lightheaded.

"Lila, talk to me. If you're really not feeling well, we should get you to urgent care." The concern in his voice was evident.

Lila opened her eyes.

She met Kieran's gaze and saw genuine worry there—not the performative concern that co-stars typically showed on set.

Lila frowned, "Chocolate."

"Okay." He responded and turned to leave.

He didn't forget to glance at Lila one more time.

"I'm fine," she assured him. "If anything happens, I'll call Elisha."

Though she'd rather not. As a guest star, the last thing she wanted was to cause problems for the director.

Kieran nodded and hurried off to get her chocolate.

Lila leaned back in her chair with a sigh, feeling completely drained.

Kieran had barely left when she overheard someone nearby. "That Kieran, I don't get why he's so full of himself. It's like God is preventing him from adding me on Instagram. Look at him treating Lila like she's royalty. Turns out even big-shot CEOs can be total kiss-ups. How does he know I won't be the next big thing? If he comes sniffing around then, I won't give him the time of day!"

The voice was not far away.

It was Cecilia complaining to her assistant.

While Cecilia ranted, her assistant tried to calm her down. "Come on, Cecilia, if he's not interested, let it go. Don't talk about Mr. Getty like that! That's just how this business works—you climb the ladder, and when you reach his level, guys like him will come to you. Besides, he rejected you quite politely! Consider yourself lucky he didn't embarrass you completely!"

"How is that not embarrassing?! I'm so over this. Why aren't you on my side? I can't stand everyone fawning over Lila! So what if she's the hottest thing right now? I'm the freaking lead!" Cecilia fumed.

Lila listened, unable to hold back any longer.
