Chapter 954
Elizabeth looked at the invitation he handed her. Her brow furrowed slightly.
"Can I refuse?"
"It's your choice."
A brief exchange, very concise.
Elizabeth stared at it for a moment, then reached out to take it.
Alexander smiled, "I'll prepare the dress for you. You just need to arrive on time as indicated. I'll come to pick you up, so just be ready at home."
Elizabeth nodded and said nothing more.
They left the Tudor Group building, and it was still bustling outside.
Today was the first day of the new year.
New Year's celebrations had become increasingly lively in recent years.
Alexander opened the car door for Elizabeth, and she got in.
Elizabeth's phone rang.
Lila: [You're full of happiness, huh?]
Elizabeth: [What are you talking about? I don't understand.]
Lila: [Don't play dumb. It's all over the place that Alexander set off fireworks for love last night. The whole city, for almost twenty minutes!]
Elizabeth: [Didn't he do the same for Esme?]
Lila: [Just tell me, do you like it or not?]
Elizabeth looked at the message, a slight smile on her lips. Of course, she liked it. Who wouldn't like fireworks, especially ones set off just for her?
Soon, Lila sent a photo.
Every LED billboard in the city, every place that could display pictures or text, was filled with Alexander's heartfelt declarations and photos of Elizabeth.
Lila: [Even our billboards had to make way for you. Isn't that happiness?]
Elizabeth casually scrolled through Instagram and saw she was trending at number one.
Everyone was talking about how much the fireworks must have cost tonight.
Someone even posted a photo of the fireworks on Instagram with the caption: [Peeking at someone else's happiness, so envious.]
But what they didn't know was that Elizabeth had once been the one secretly watching Esme's happiness from the corner.
Elizabeth closed Instagram and replied to Lila: [If I really get back together with Alexander, will you look down on me?]
Lila didn't reply immediately.
Elizabeth waited quietly.
She knew Lila had read her message, probably just thinking about how to respond. After all, this wasn't a small matter.
When it came to her, Lila never answered or decided hastily or perfunctorily.
Lila finally replied.
Lila: [I might look down on you, but I also understand you. Elizabeth, feelings are hard to let go of, especially when you've loved Alexander for seven years. This is your youth, not ours. So none of us have the right to say whether your decision is good or bad.]
[Elizabeth, your feelings for Alexander are your business, and wanting to be with him is also your business. You don't need to care about how we see you because in a relationship, you are the leading lady. You know better than any of us whether he's good or bad to you.]
[I believe that after one failure, you'll be more cautious and careful this time. So when you really decide to reconcile, I trust that it's a well-thought-out decision. I support every decision you make and hope Alexander won't let you down.]
Reading Lila's message, Elizabeth felt warm inside.
Many times, Lila was like Declan, helping her solve problems.
Lila always supported her unconditionally, even if she was wrong, Lila would stand behind her and let her make mistakes boldly.
Elizabeth: [Lila. I'm sorry. I'm so afraid of disappointing you.]
Lila: [As I said, you are the leading lady of your life, and your decisions are the most important.]
Lila: [Alexander has been clinging to you lately, and I've seen it. After all, it's Alexander; his every move is closely watched in the circle. I understand you. I just want you to be happy. Nothing else matters.]
She sent Lila a hug emoji.
