Chapter 964
"Elizabeth, do you remember how many people you've turned down these years?" Ivan swirled the wine in his glass and downed it in one gulp after asking.
Elizabeth frowned. After thinking carefully, it didn't seem like there were that many, right?
Some people came at the wrong time, and some were just not suitable.
You couldn't settle for less in a relationship; this was the lesson she learned after breaking up with Alexander. Now that she knew it, she wouldn't let herself fall into another emotional trap.
If she were to start a second relationship, it would be after careful consideration.
"I don't remember," Elizabeth replied to Ivan.
Ivan laughed, "You really are heartless."
"Years from now, if someone asks you if you know Ivan, will you also heartlessly say you don't?" Ivan looked at Elizabeth, his eyes filled with disappointment and sadness.
Elizabeth nodded.
Since she was already rejecting him, she might as well do it thoroughly, regardless of whether Ivan would be hurt.
Not saying anything would be the real way to hurt him.
Elizabeth knew too well the feeling of getting a little sweetness and then being unable to stop being good to someone.
Ivan sighed deeply and then turned his gaze to the stage.
Alexander happened to look over. Their eyes met, and Ivan was truly jealous of him.
Ivan wasn't jealous of Alexander's successful career; he wasn't jealous of Alexander's good looks and intelligence since childhood.
But Alexander could have Elizabeth. Elizabeth gave Alexander a chance.
Ivan was jealous to the point of madness.
"That's about it for last year's summary. In short, thank you all for your trust and companionship. Thank you for growing with the Tudor Group and with me. I hope we can all win together and create brilliance in the coming year."
Alexander began his closing remarks.
A round of applause erupted in the room.
Elizabeth looked over and joined in the applause.
Ivan quietly watched Alexander. Their eyes met again, and Ivan smiled.
Alexander's gaze was far from friendly.
While he was summarizing, Ivan had been chatting with Elizabeth in the audience. It annoyed him greatly. He even wanted to kick Ivan out.
Ivan naturally knew that Alexander was a very possessive person.
From childhood to adulthood, there was nothing Alexander wanted that he couldn't get.
After Alexander stepped off the stage, Nolan quickly took the stage and said a few more words.
Alexander walked past everyone, ignoring their applause and compliments, and stopped in front of Ivan and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth took a sip of her drink and knew it was bad. Alexander was probably being petty and was going to question her about Ivan.
"I'm leaving," Elizabeth pointed not far away, indicating she was going to chat with Kieran.
She had just taken a step when Alexander grabbed her arm.
Elizabeth silently looked at Alexander. Alexander frowned, "Where are you going?"
"To Mr. Getty and talk about Lila. I haven't seen Lila in a long time," Elizabeth replied.
"I'm going to chat with Mr. Shawn. Will you keep me company for a while?" Alexander looked at Elizabeth, his voice gentle.
If this wasn't a declaration of ownership, what was it?
Elizabeth looked at Ivan, who also laughed.
"Alexander, I know Elizabeth is yours. You don't need to do this," he said.
"It's still necessary, just in case some people don't get it," Alexander said with a lazy smile.
Ivan smiled, "Alexander, you're making me think you lack confidence."
"Indeed. After all, she is Elizabeth. Who can be 100% confident in front of Elizabeth?" Alexander's tone was lazy, with a hint of self-mockery.
Elizabeth pursed her lips and couldn't help but rub her forehead, "Alright, don't drag me into your issues."
Even though she was the indispensable protagonist, she didn't want to listen to their arguments.
She was an individual; she didn't belong to Alexander now, nor did she belong to Ivan.
