Chapter 974

Alexander had just touched the rescue team member's hand but hadn't had time to get up.

The elevator slid down.

Someone nearby let out a roar.

Elizabeth stood frozen in place, the sound of the cable and iron rope was extremely harsh. She instinctively wanted to move forward, but her arm was stopped by Nolan.

"Ms. Percy!" Nolan called out to Elizabeth, signaling her not to approach, "It's okay, it's already on the fourth floor, don't worry!"

She was still draped in Alexander's coat. Her palms, however, were exceptionally cold.

Nolan quickly grabbed Elizabeth, pushing her back, not forgetting to glance at the elevator.

Elizabeth was extremely frightened and kept asking, "What's going on?"

"To the machine room!" someone said, and a group of people hurriedly went down the safety passage.

Elizabeth followed, but her high heels made it difficult for her to walk quickly.

She disgustedly took off her high heels, holding them in one hand, and hurriedly walked down.

Nolan moved his lips, trying to call out to Elizabeth. It was in winter, after all.

"Ms. Percy, you should put them on," Nolan couldn't help but remind her.

Elizabeth, however, had no time to care about this and hurriedly followed the group downstairs.

The elevator had fallen to the machine room, the thudding sound was particularly eerie.

Elizabeth's heart pounded along with the thuds, then someone inside said, "It's okay, Mr. Tudor is fine!"

Elizabeth pushed through the crowd, and in the dim light, Alexander emerged from the elevator.

His white shirt was dirty, and his tie was a bit askew. He was holding his phone, with veins bulging on the back of his hand.

The crowd made way for him. Alexander looked up, wiping the corner of his mouth with his finger, and saw Elizabeth at a glance.

She frowned, her hair falling behind her, her eyelashes trembling slightly, and those beautiful eyes were filled with indescribable worry.

The surrounding lights were dim, and the crowd was dispersing. Elizabeth looked at Alexander, truly frightened.

She never expected the elevator to descend a second time.

Alexander looked at Elizabeth and suddenly smiled, "Thank God, you got out first."

Hearing this, Elizabeth couldn't hold back anymore.

At a time like this, he still said that!

Neither of them should have stayed in the elevator.

Alexander walked closer.

Only then did Elizabeth notice that his arm was injured. Perhaps when the elevator suddenly fell as he was about to get out, his arm scraped against the wall. His shirt had a tear, and there was a fresh red wound on his arm.

Seeing her eyes welling up with tears, Alexander bent down slightly and asked her, "What's wrong, are you crying?"

Elizabeth bit her lip, "No!"

"Worried about me?" he asked with a smile.

Elizabeth didn't answer, but a tear slowly fell from the corner of her eye.

"Then it's worth it for me," he smiled, raising his hand to wipe Elizabeth's tears.

Elizabeth, displeased, raised her hand to swat his hand away, shouting, "At a time like this, you're still saying that?"

But her hand was caught by Alexander.

Alexander raised his other hand and gently wiped away her tears, "Don't cry for me, it's not worth it."

He had long lost the right to make Elizabeth cry for him.

Elizabeth looked into his eyes, her heart trembling, increasingly dissatisfied.

If Alexander wasn't worth it, then besides her family and friends, who else in this world was?

Alexander lowered his eyes and suddenly noticed she wasn't even wearing shoes.

Alexander frowned. In such cold weather, not wearing shoes?

He looked back, and Nolan was holding Elizabeth's shoes. In the rush downstairs, Elizabeth had thrown them aside.

Alexander beckoned, and Nolan brought the shoes over.

He took them, "Not even wearing shoes?"

Elizabeth quietly watched him as he squatted down, "Lift your foot."

His voice was low, carrying an irresistible command.

Elizabeth placed a hand on his shoulder, and Alexander helped her put on her shoes.
