Chapter 999

Elizabeth was a bit surprised, just as Alexander looked up in her direction.

The two of them stood on opposite sides of a wide asphalt road, gazing at each other.

Elizabeth walked over and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Alexander pressed his lips together and didn't answer her question. Instead, he asked, "Why are you here so late?"

"I asked you first." Elizabeth looked up at him, determined to get an answer.

"I'm just looking for some memories." He ran a hand through his hair, hands in his pockets, speaking calmly.

Elizabeth nodded.

"And you? You're not a student at Lisbun University." He smiled.

Elizabeth looked at him with a calm expression, as if she couldn't muster any enthusiasm.

"I have quite a few memories at Lisbun University, don't I?" She smiled, somewhat self-deprecatingly.

Alexander was silent for three seconds before he said, "I'm looking for memories of you and me."

Elizabeth looked up, what?

"Now that I'm back here, I realize that you're everywhere. You're right, you have a lot of memories at Lisbun University." He gave a bitter smile and pointed inside, "Want to take a walk?"

"Haven't you walked enough already?" Elizabeth wanted to walk by herself.

"I don't mind reminiscing with you some more." He said.

Elizabeth laughed, "Aren't you going to ask if I want to?"

The things she did before were so silly.

"Let's go." He suddenly reached out and grabbed Elizabeth's wrist, not giving her a chance to refuse.

Elizabeth laughed.

He was like this in high school too.

She was young back then and always got dragged along by him.

"I told my grandparents that you wanted to visit them." Elizabeth walked beside Alexander.

A handsome man and a beautiful woman walking together always attracted attention. Even though it was already dark, passersby couldn't help but take a second look at them in the dim light.

Alexander turned to look at her, "What did they say?"

Elizabeth shrugged, obviously not good.

She didn't say anything, but Alexander figured it out.

"You don't have to say it; I know your grandparents are very resistant, right?" Alexander said to her.

Elizabeth nodded.

Alexander looked ahead and smiled, "It's okay, I'll win them over little by little."

"Elizabeth, I owe you, and I will slowly make it up to you. This is not just talk." His voice was low, even more solemn in the night.

He was serious, not joking at all.

Elizabeth quietly followed him, "What if my family always resists?"

"So what? When you married me, wasn't I very resistant too? You managed to marry me despite all the pressure, so why can't I face the pressure and work hard for you?" He looked at Elizabeth, his eyes full of sincerity.

He wouldn't brush Elizabeth off; he would make sure the Percy Family saw his positive side.

He would make the Percy Family agree to let Elizabeth be with him.

He wouldn't let Elizabeth down.

Elizabeth could see Alexander's seriousness, but she herself had lost confidence.

"Alexander, they are not just resisting you visiting them. They are also resisting our relationship." She had to point out.

Her grandparents were clearly against Alexander as a person.

She could remarry, but it absolutely couldn't be to Alexander.

"Elizabeth, I'm not that bad." He stopped and suddenly tightened his grip on Elizabeth's hand.

Elizabeth followed his arm down; his palm was warm, and when he held her tightly, her heart trembled.

Elizabeth pressed her lips together and slowly withdrew her hand, then gave Alexander a polite smile.

The atmosphere became awkward.

Elizabeth put her hands behind her back and said, "Let's just walk around."

Alexander stood still, looking at his pushed-away hand, and couldn't help but give a bitter smile.

But because of this, he became even more determined. He would make Elizabeth and the Percy Family see his sincerity.

He wasn't that bad.
