Chapter 993

Celine looked at Elizabeth with a hint of sadness. Why was Elizabeth still helping Alexander?

Elizabeth gave Celine an awkward smile, as if communicating with her eyes. "We can't just let him stand there, can we? It's not polite."

Celine grumbled and took a sip of her coffee.

"Grandpa, Grandma. I'm sorry I only came to visit you today," Alexander began, sounding very formal.

Elizabeth could really feel how out of place he was with them.

"What's there to be sorry about? We don't have any relationship. Even if you don't visit us, we won't say anything!" Celine muttered.

Alexander didn't know how to respond.

Indeed.

"But after I married Elizabeth, I never came to visit you. That was my fault," Alexander admitted.

As soon as Celine heard this, she slammed her cup down on the coffee table.

He had the nerve to bring that up?

Alexander suddenly didn't dare to speak.

Elizabeth felt a headache coming on. He was really brave to mention the marriage.

Luckily, Celine only slammed the cup and didn't tell him to get out.

She could see that Celine was holding back.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

No one knew what to say.

Alexander picked up his coffee cup, just about to drink, when he heard Celine say, "You and our Elizabeth are not going to happen."

It was like a bomb had been dropped, catching Alexander completely off guard. He didn't know whether to drink the coffee or not, and finally put it down.

Celine said, "Even if Elizabeth agrees to remarry you, we won't agree."

"I'm serious this time. I will treat Elizabeth well," Alexander said earnestly, lowering his voice.

"Which man wouldn't say that? Who knows if it's true or not? She's already been hurt once; I won't let her get hurt a second time!"

"I'm making it clear today, her future husband can be anyone but you!" Celine said coldly, and then went upstairs.

Alexander stood frozen.

Grant gave Alexander a long look, studying his expression.

He was panicking, really panicking.

He looked at Elizabeth, seeking help.

Elizabeth indicated that she didn't know what to do either.

"Grandpa..." Alexander had to think of something himself, assuming Grant would be easier to talk to.

"Calling me won't help. In our house, Celine has the final say," Grant said with an awkward smile, implying that he had no say in the matter.

Grant could only pour Alexander some coffee and let him sit for a while.

"This coffee is pretty good. A friend brought it for me, and this is the last pack," Grant said to Alexander.

Elizabeth immediately said, "My grandpa loves this coffee."

Alexander caught the hint and quickly asked, "What kind of coffee is this?"

"It's rare Kopi Luwak, specially supplied," Grant said, taking a sip from his cup.

"Grandpa, you like Kopi Luwak?" Alexander asked.

Grant shook his head, "I like all kinds. But I'm just an amateur. I don't really understand coffee."

Elizabeth thought Grant was pretending. He knew coffee very well. He had been drinking it all his life.

Alexander said awkwardly, "I brought a lot of gifts for you and Grandma today. Unfortunately, no coffee."

Grant laughed heartily, "It's okay. You came, that's enough. No need to bring anything, really."

Just as he finished speaking, they heard Celine calling from the second-floor staircase, "What are you laughing about? Get me a glass of water!"

Grant didn't hesitate for a moment and hurried to get Celine some water.

The living room instantly fell silent.

When Elizabeth looked at Alexander again, his ears were red.
