Chapter 10 Meeting Gift
"Yo, you think there was some shady business with that baby swap back in the day?"
Catherine, cool as a cucumber, replied, "The Windsor family ain't your run-of-the-mill rich folks. No way a baby swap goes unnoticed for over a decade, especially with multiple kids involved."
"Got it, I'll dig into it right now."
Five minutes later, Catherine's info network pinged with the latest scoop.
Turns out, the baby swap with her, Clara, and Juniper went down because the hospital where their moms gave birth had a major medical screw-up at the time.
The maternity ward got moved to the nearby orphanage, which was packed and had zero security, leading to the baby mix-up.
Catherine, unfazed, said, "Give me the orphanage's location. I'll check it out myself later."
"Miss, the orphanage and the hospital are in the same spot, but the hospital's been shut down and abandoned for years. The orphanage is still there, still standing in Imperia City. It might not be an average place; you need to watch your back."
Catherine had a gut feeling something was definitely off with that orphanage!
She checked the address, then pocketed her phone.
Brandon's voice came from the doorway, "Catherine, come down for dinner. I wasn't sure what flavors you like, so try it out and see if it suits your taste."
Brandon looked at Catherine with eyes full of affection, worried she might not like the food.
Following him, Catherine asked, "With our family's connections, why didn't you dig into my background after you found me?"
Brandon chuckled, "It was Juniper's idea. She said investigating beforehand would make us biased. If you had a rough past, it would be hard for us to make it up to you. So she suggested we get to know you slowly after you came home."
Catherine nodded.
The big dining room was lit up with windows, and a fancy crystal chandelier cast light onto the marble wall, spelling out: "Welcome Home, Catherine."
Four guys stood by the dining table, looking at Catherine with a mix of excitement and nerves.
They saw a girl on the stairs who looked a lot like Aurora, rocking a light purple dress with a violet crystal bracelet on her wrist.
She had this elegant, almost otherworldly vibe, like an angel in a painting, but with a touch of icy aloofness.
This was their biological sister!
Brandon introduced, "Catherine, these are your brothers. Come on, guys. Say hello."
The first guy was all suave and polished, wearing a custom Istalia suit with some pricey ruby cufflinks that were a big deal at last year's auction.
Catherine remembered those cufflinks were bought by Charles Windsor, the boss of Evergreen Industries.
Charles wasn't just the youngest top billionaire but also a famous oil tycoon on the dark web!
Charles handed a black card to Catherine.
He was super gentle, his smile perfectly practiced to be both charming and elegant.
"Catherine, I'm your eldest brother, Charles Windsor. This is my gift to you. Buy whatever you want, no limit."
Catherine took it, nodding obediently, "Thanks, Charles."
Charles's smile was brighter than when he scored ten gold mines.
The second guy stepped forward, fair-skinned with chiseled features and hands so finely boned they looked like art.
"Catherine, I'm your second brother, George Windsor. This is my gift to you."
He handed Catherine a box, every corner polished to perfection.
George still had some wood shavings on his hands, showing he made it himself.
Inside the box was a hairband and a card.
George smiled, "The card gives you access to the best medical facilities worldwide, no matter what. You'll get top-notch care whenever you need it. Of course, I hope you never have to use it. I'm not as loaded as Charles, but I made this hairband myself. Hope you like it."
When Catherine was publishing medical SCI papers, she had come across the name George Windsor, the youngest medical genius in the world today. He was the only one capable of performing surgeries with a zero percent mortality rate, known as the "Hand of God." Many international organizations had offered him sky-high prices to recruit him, but none had succeeded.
Catherine picked up the hairband, feeling its smooth and expensive fabric. "Thanks, George. I like it."
Seeing Catherine actually wear the hairband he made, George beamed with a smile, more satisfied than when he saved a hundred people from the clutches of death.
"Catherine, I'm your third brother, Richard Windsor. You might have seen me before? This is my gift to you!"
Richard was the most handsome of them all, with thick eyebrows, bright eyes, a perfectly sculpted nose, and even his hair exuded elegance.
As the youngest Grand Slam Best Actor in Stellara, Richard had won every Best Actor award since his debut. His songs were sung everywhere in Stellara, making him a super megastar.
Catherine accepted the luxurious yacht key Richard handed her and thanked him, "Thanks, Richard. I like it."
Richard's eyes lit up! He had been worried all the way that Catherine wouldn't like his gift, but hearing her say she liked it was simply perfect!
The last man, clearly impatient, strode forward and picked Catherine up, spinning her around.
Brandon exclaimed, "Philip Windsor, put Catherine down! If you drop her, I'll kill you!"
Aurora rushed forward, wanting to kick Philip, afraid he might accidentally hurt Catherine.
Philip was wearing a floral shirt, with the top button undone, revealing a sexy Adam's apple. Despite the Windsor family's generally upright appearance, Philip had a bit of a rogue charm, with his good looks making it hard to dislike him.
Philip Windsor, the most famous top-tier lawyer in the world, had never lost a case in international courts with exorbitant fees.
"Catherine, this is my gift to you. What does a girl need a yacht for?"
He clapped his hands as a group of servants filed in with a massive clothing rack. The rack was divided into six sections by color and type, filled with high-end haute couture dresses, with matching shoes, bags, and necklaces, saving the trouble of coordinating outfits.
Next to the rack, six people in professional attire bowed to Catherine simultaneously, "Miss, we are here to tailor the clothes to your measurements and style."
Catherine looked at the clothes, somewhat taken aback. She felt she had underestimated the wealth of the Windsor family.
Philip waved his hand and instructed, "Take these to Catherine's room."
"Yes."
Catherine looked at Philip, sincerely expressing her thanks, "Thanks, Philip. This is the first time I've received so many clothes. I really like them."
Philip was very pleased with himself.
Aurora wiped her tears. 'Those clothes don't cost much, and I thought Philip was stingy. But Catherine said she had never had even this many clothes before! How poor is the Smith family to make my precious daughter live like a beggar? It is heartbreaking!'
A delicate voice came from the doorway. "Brandon, Aurora, I'm back."
Everyone's expressions instantly changed from joyful to indifferent.
Philip pulled Catherine to sit down as Brandon responded coldly, "When are you leaving?"
Catherine remained silent.
At the door stood a girl in a pink puffy dress, with delicately curled hair and a small, cute crown. Her eyes were adorable, but her thin lips and small nose made her look somewhat pitiful.
Esme felt extremely wronged but didn't dare to say anything. "I heard Catherine was coming home today, so I came to see her. After all, Catherine, coming from the countryside, might not understand our Windsor family rules."
She emphasized "our Windsor family" as she stared at Catherine.
Philip snorted coldly, speaking before he thought. "Catherine is my biological sister, the biological daughter of Brandon and Aurora, the only daughter of the Windsor family. Whatever she says the Windsor family rules are, we'll change them immediately. If she doesn't understand, do you?"
