Chapter 266 Catherine Discovered the Secret About Paloma

Alkaid: [Miss, haven't you always thought these summits were a waste of time?]

The Galactic Aurora Collective got bombarded with summit invites every year.

Catherine always saw these events as just a bunch of industry bigwigs patting each other on the back. The Galactic Aurora Collective had its own thing going on and didn't need to schmooze at these summits.

In reality, it was the organizers who were dying to get in with the Galactic Aurora Collective.

Catherine: [I suddenly feel like going. How's that investigation I asked for?]

Alkaid: [Mercury got a report on Paloma's check-up. It's pretty weird. You should check it out yourself.]

Catherine's brow furrowed as she glanced at the report on her phone.

She had a hunch something was off with Paloma and had the Galactic Aurora Collective look into it.

Seeing the report now, Catherine's suspicions were confirmed.

Alexander noticed Catherine staring at her phone and placed a peeled shrimp on her plate. "What's up?"

The internal communication within the Galactic Aurora Collective was encrypted, so outsiders couldn't make sense of it.

Catherine quickly messaged Gavin and put her phone away. "Nothing, just needed to talk to Prof. Gavin about Marcus's meds. And Felix's too."

Catherine was in charge of managing Felix and Marcus's health. She'd give them massages sometimes, but Marcus, not wanting to tire her out, usually had George do it.

This morning, when she saw Felix and Marcus taking their meds, she noticed something was off with Felix's.

"Should Felix be taking more meds?" Alexander asked.

"I checked. Looks like Felix caught a cold recently and got some meds on his own," Catherine said.

There were some other meds she needed to discuss with Gavin too.

Gavin replied: [Got an interesting case? Awesome. Swing by the hospital when you can, and we'll go over it.]

Catherine: [See you later today.]

After replying, Catherine put her phone away. "Sorry for interrupting dinner."

Evander quickly chimed in, "No worries! Even if you were gaming during dinner, it's cool here. Do whatever you want; Alexander will spoil you!"

As Evander spoke, he worried Alexander wouldn't say anything and nudged him under the table.

Alexander smiled helplessly. "Of course, Catherine can do whatever she wants here. But if it's gaming, I hope it's with me."

His tone was full of affection.

Hearing this, Juniper across the table shivered. "Mr. Howard, you better keep your word, or Catherine won't marry you! You have no idea how many people at my lab have asked for her contact info!"

But Juniper hadn't given it to anyone.

Evander got serious. "Juniper, got a crush on anyone?"

Juniper rolled her eyes. "Why would I be into someone who's not as good at experiments as me, has less hair, less money, and isn't as good-looking? Some of them are even younger than me!"

Just thinking about it made Juniper roll her eyes.

A guy like Evander, who managed to find a partner at the research institute back in the day, was a rare breed.

Juniper had seen old photos of Evander from Felix, and it was no surprise Paloma had fallen for him back then.

Juniper hadn't spilled the beans to Evander about Paloma's situation.

Owen had mentioned that Paloma's health was fragile and she couldn't handle stress.

Evander nodded. "You're still young, no need to rush into dating. I'll take care of the issues at the research institute."

"Can you? You hate all the scheming that goes on there," Juniper said.

"Your issues are important, whether I like it or not."

Juniper smiled.

After the meal, Catherine had the kitchen pack some food for George, who was still in surgery.

Evander glanced at his watch. "Catherine, I'm sorry, but I need to borrow Alexander for a bit. He'll be back with you later."

It was like Alexander belonged to Catherine now.

Even though they were just engaged, Evander didn't need to ask her permission to take Alexander.

But Evander said it so naturally, and Alexander didn't seem to mind.

Catherine could only nod. "Go ahead."

Evander patted Alexander's shoulder. "Come with me to pick up your grandmother. She heard about Juniper and is eager to come back."

Alexander's grandmother, Arabella Pearl, lived in a nursing home and was quite reclusive. She didn't always want to see her grandchildren when they visited.

Now, having heard about Evander, whom she worried about the most, having a daughter, and wanting to see Alexander's fiancée, Arabella was eager to leave the nursing home.

Alexander looked at Catherine and explained gently, "I mentioned my grandmother before. She has a bad temper, and I didn't want to scare you, so I thought you'd wait a bit before you meet her."

"That's fine with me," Catherine said.

Even Alexander and Evander were a bit nervous about meeting Arabella!

Arabella was notoriously eccentric, and Alexander wasn't sure if she'd say something unpleasant to Catherine.

'Better to meet her first and explain, so she won't scare off my fiancée!' Alexander thought.

At the hospital's emergency department, Catherine placed the packed food on George's office desk.

Juniper pointed to the ward. "I might have just seen Owen. I'll go check. Can you wait here for George? If a stranger talks to you, don't respond!"

Catherine sighed. "I'm not a three-year-old."

The Windsor Family always treated Catherine like a child, sometimes wanting to handle everything for her.

As soon as Juniper left, Gavin walked into the office. "Smells good. I haven't eaten either. George's surgery will take a while. How about giving me some food?"

Catherine said flatly, "None for you. Hands off."

"That's too much!" Gavin handed Catherine the prepared medical records, sneaking his hand towards the food.

Without looking up, Catherine said, "The two boxes on the far left are yours. Don't touch the others."

Gavin was delighted, knowing Catherine wouldn't leave him with nothing!

Catherine's eyes remained on the medical records. She was surprised. "So, my suspicions were correct. Paloma's illness is due to external stimuli and drug reactions."

In other words, someone had been continuously messing with Paloma's mind, causing her to break down periodically!
