Chapter 64 How about you and my mom get a divorce?

The porridge had been chillin' in the thermal container for like two hours, but it was still hot as hell. When it splashed onto Aurora's wrist, it turned a big ol' patch of her skin red.

Lila saw the whole thing and didn't even flinch. Instead, she let out this creepy little laugh.

"That's what you get for trying to mess with me, you nasty woman! Get outta here!"

Aurora's eyes filled with tears, but she sucked it up and walked out of the room. She ended up bumping into Catherine, who had just come from Marcus's room.

Catherine had heard Aurora was with Lila and was worried Lila might give her a hard time. After giving meds to Marcus and Felix, she rushed over.

"Aurora, what happened to you?"

Seeing the porridge on Aurora's wrist, Catherine quickly dragged her to the bathroom, rinsed it with cold water, and then slapped on some ointment she had made herself.

Aurora had been holding back her tears, but seeing Catherine take such good care of her made her break down.

"Catherine, do you think Lila's still sick in the head or something? She called me over and then made my life hell! She called me at 5:30 to bring porridge, and after I stood in the room for three hours, she accused me of poisoning her!"

Catherine carefully applied the ointment to Aurora's burn.

Luckily, the porridge had been cooling for a while, so it wasn't as hot as when it was fresh. This level of burn would heal in a week with the ointment Catherine had whipped up.

Catherine sighed in relief and took Aurora to Marcus's room.

Marcus took one look and knew what had gone down.

"Aurora, did Lila mess with you again?"

"Marcus, you gotta stand up for me! Ever since I married into the Windsor family, what have I done wrong? The Windsor family is prestigious, but the Martinez family ain't no slouch either!"

"Why does Lila always give me such a hard time? Does she still want Brandon to marry someone else? If that's the case, just tell me, and I'll divorce Brandon!" Aurora said, feeling wronged.

Marcus's face got a bit awkward.

Back in the day, Lila was never happy with Aurora.

Lila had always wanted her niece to marry Brandon. The Windsor family was all about class. How could they let cousins marry?

Plus, Brandon had fallen head over heels for the sweet and beautiful Aurora at first sight and practically moved into the Martinez family!

Seeing that the Martinez family was also classy and that Aurora was a good girl, Marcus agreed to the marriage.

Lila always felt Aurora had ruined her niece's chances and couldn't stand them becoming in-laws!

Over the years, she made Aurora's life hell over all sorts of petty stuff.

Marcus was busy with work and could only scold Lila occasionally, but she always thought it was Aurora complaining and even accused Aurora of having her eyes on Marcus and wanting to be Brandon's stepmom.

After a while, Aurora felt too embarrassed to make a fuss, and Marcus also felt ashamed.

Having heard the news, Brandon rushed in from outside, dropped to his knees, and hugged Aurora's leg, crying!

"Aurora! You can't divorce me! You're the only one I love! You can't leave me! If you divorce me, I'll jump out of the window right now!"

Catherine and Marcus both fell silent.

Brandon didn't give a damn that Catherine and Marcus were still there. He just knew if he didn't act fast, Aurora would be out off there!

"Aurora!! You're my everything, my whole world!" Brandon cried out.

"Lila always bullies me. I have to divorce you!" Aurora shot back.

Seeing Aurora's red wrist, Brandon freaked out.

He turned to Marcus and stammered, "Marcus, why don't you just divorce Lila? That way, Aurora won't be her daughter-in-law anymore. You can't let me lose Aurora! You don't need a wife anyway, so why not just ditch her?"

Marcus whacked him with a cane, cursing, "Get out! Even if I divorce Lila, you'll still be her son, and Aurora will still be her daughter-in-law!"

'What kind of son is this? Trying to drag his own dad into his mess!'

Aurora struggled to pull her leg out of Brandon's grip and tearfully said, "I'm going back to the Martinez family! Goodbye!"

Brandon quickly chased after her, still calling out to his sweetheart.

Marcus felt ashamed and waved his hand, saying, "Don't bother with them. Brandon and Aurora have always been like this. Every time Aurora and Lila argue, she goes back to the Martinez family. I heard Samuel and Grace are back recently? Have you seen them?"

Catherine nodded obediently. "I saw Samuel. Grace will be back this weekend."

Marcus sighed deeply. "When you go back, bring something for Samuel as my apology. Aurora has really had a tough time all these years. If it weren't for the conflict between Lila and Aurora, maybe you wouldn't have been lost back then."

Catherine, a bit curious, sat beside Marcus, massaging his calf.

Her touch was just right, making Marcus feel much more comfortable.

'Catherine is the best! Look how considerate she is!'

"What happened back then? What does the conflict between Lila and Aurora have to do with me?" Catherine asked.

"Back then, Aurora had a difficult pregnancy and was hospitalized to protect you. Lila insisted that Aurora was being pampered and didn't let her stay in our hospital. She sent Aurora to Vinehill Hospital in the countryside, saying she had acquaintances there who could take care of Aurora. Later, Vinehill Hospital and Angel's Haven Orphanage caught fire, and the children were all mixed up, leading to the baby swap!"

'So it was because of Lila that Aurora ended up at Vinehill Hospital back then?'

"Why Vinehill Hospital?" she asked.

"I don't know either. Although Vinehill Hospital's medical facilities weren't as good as ours, they were still decent, so Aurora agreed. Looking back, if she hadn't agreed back then, you wouldn't have suffered!"

"I'm not suffering," Catherine said.

Marcus smiled, very pleased with Catherine's understanding.

"Catherine, I'm old and can't do many things anymore. But the conflict between Lila and Aurora is ultimately the Windsor family's fault. If they have any bigger conflicts in the future, the Windsor family will stand by Aurora! Do you understand?"

"I understand."

Gavin pushed open the door and walked in.

"Mr. Windsor, Esme fell into the water and is now under observation in the ICU."

Marcus asked, a bit surprised, "How did that happen?"

"Philip said Esme wanted to learn to swim, trying to swim back to the Windsor Mansion from the port in Imperia City. She choked on water and almost drowned," Gavin explained.

Catherine was speechless. 'Does Philip's nonsense really not matter?'

Marcus's eyes flickered, and his shrewd face showed some contemplation.

"Take good care of her. Don't worry about anything else."

"Got it," Gavin said.
