Chapter 17 The Whole Family Sets Out to Find Catherine!
The car was bouncing like crazy as it sped out of the city.
Catherine noticed they were heading towards Bright Heal Hospital and asked, "Who sent you?"
The kidnapper laughed, his face all sleazy. "We ain't gonna hurt you, but you shouldn't have messed with stuff that ain't yours! We're dumping you in the mountains. Don't worry, you'll never get out! Lucky for you, you're pretty. We can make some cash off your looks out there."
Catherine was speechless.
She reached for the small knife at her waist, quickly knocked out a few kidnappers, and pressed the knife against the driver's neck.
"Who sent you? Spill it, my patience is running thin."
The driver was so scared his hands were shaking on the wheel. "Please, don't hurt me! We were just paid to do this! It was Celeste! She gave us ten grand to sell you off to some remote place!"
'Celeste didn't mention that Catherine knows how to fight!'
Catherine responded coolly, "Take me to Bright Heal Hospital."
Hearing her voice like the Grim Reaper sharpening his scythe, the driver almost set the steering wheel on fire, speeding towards Bright Heal Hospital.
As soon as Catherine got out of the car, she shouted to the guards at the entrance, "They kidnapped me!"
Having been in and out of Bright Heal Hospital these past few days, she was quickly recognized by the guards at the entrance as the granddaughter of Mr. Marcus Windsor.
The guards at Bright Heal Hospital were all special forces soldiers on rotation.
Hearing Catherine's voice, a few special forces soldiers quickly stepped forward and subdued the criminals.
"Thanks."
"No problem. You should go inside. Mr. Windsor's been waiting for you. We'll handle this!"
They had a great impression of Catherine—beautiful, polite, and well-mannered, truly a Windsor.
As soon as Catherine walked into the ward, she heard Marcus's booming voice, "Where's Catherine? Didn't you say she was on her way?"
"Grandpa, did you take your medicine today?" Catherine asked.
Marcus's eyes lit up when he saw Catherine!
"Come here quick, Brady Powell from Building Three wants to play chess with you today."
Catherine knew Marcus hadn't taken his medicine and was clearly changing the subject.
She signaled to the caregivers and handed over his daily meds. "Grandpa, be good."
Marcus reluctantly took the medicine, grimacing. "It's bitter! Why are you so late today?"
"I went shopping in the morning and had lunch with Charles."
She didn't mention the kidnapping to avoid worrying Marcus.
She could handle what Celeste did on her own.
"What's so interesting about having lunch with Charles? Shopping is fine. You should dress up beautifully. I'll send you some jewelry later as little toys."
"Thanks, Grandpa."
Marcus, excited, pulled her towards another ward. "Come on, let's play chess!"
'Back when we worked together, I often lost to Brady at chess. This time, I have to regain my pride!'
After a few games, Marcus's smile was almost overflowing. 'Catherine is amazing, winning every game!'
Brady, the former second-in-command of Stellara, looked at the chessboard with admiration in his eyes. 'Watching chess is like watching a person. Marcus has really found a treasure this time!'
Brady chuckled and said, "Catherine, if you ever have any trouble, come to me. I'll help you out!"
Marcus said, annoyed, "Who needs you to show off? I'm not dead yet!"
"It doesn't matter. My word carries more weight," Brady said.
"Catherine, leave us. I need to 'play chess' with this old man!" Marcus said.
Catherine was silent.
She nodded and bowed to Brady, then walked out of the ward.
As soon as she stepped out, the smile on Catherine's face disappeared, replaced by a cold, murderous intent.
She sensed the presence of an assassin. 'Looks like the Abyssal Blades's assassins have arrived!'
Catherine turned and slipped into the green-lit emergency exit, a specially-made silenced pistol in her hand, vanishing into the deep darkness.

The Windsor Villa.
As soon as Esme burst in, she rushed towards Aurora, who was watering the flowers.
"Aurora, something terrible happened! I saw Catherine getting taken away!"
Aurora was so shocked that the expensive watering can in her hand fell to the ground and shattered. "What did you say?"
Hearing the commotion, Brandon came out of the study with his four sons trailing behind. They had just been discussing which country to buy a castle for Catherine in when they heard Esme's alarming words!
"I saw Catherine get into a van. I was so scared that I rushed back to tell you. Will Catherine be okay? I saw those people manhandling her."
Aurora almost fainted on the spot!
Charles, with a grim face, asked, "Where did you see this? Why didn't you call Aurora and Brandon? Why didn't you call the police first? What if something happened to Catherine!"
Esme, tears streaming down her face, said, "I was too scared. I even fell on the way back and broke my phone. I was so worried about Catherine that I rushed back to tell Aurora and Brandon! It was at 3 PM in front of Evergreen Mall."
She cried as she showed her shattered phone and her bruised knee.
She had been so happy after seeing Catherine in trouble that she accidentally fell.
To give the criminals enough time, she had even gone shopping and had a full skincare treatment at Evergreen Mall.
All to be in the best state to see Catherine kicked out of the Windsor family!
George picked up the phone and called the police.
Philip frowned and said, "It's 3 PM, and you're only telling us now? What were you doing before?"
Esme wiped her tears and said pitifully, "Philip, what do you mean? Of course, I was at the hospital taking care of Lila. Ever since Lila was hospitalized, I've been the one taking care of her. Catherine hasn't visited her even once."
Brandon roared, "Shut up! Let's all go out to find Catherine now!"
"Charles, you go check the mall's surveillance. George, you go find the police. Richard, drive along the route to look for Catherine. Philip, come with me to the traffic department! Catherine has suffered so much before, and now something like this happens right under the Windsor family's nose. All of you will have your allowances docked for a year!"
The four boys responded sternly, "Yes!"
Catherine stood at the door, looking at the serious faces of her brothers and Brandon, and asked, "Dad, guys, where are you all going?"
Aurora rushed over to hug Catherine, saying, "Are you okay? Let me take a look. Esme said she saw you being kidnapped. I was so scared!"
Aurora checked Catherine from head to toe, making sure not a single hair was out of place, tears streaming down her face.
Catherine quickly wiped Aurora's tears and said, "I'm fine. I did encounter kidnappers, but Marcus sent people to rescue me. The criminals have been taken away."
"Thank goodness for Marcus's quick thinking. If I lost you again, I wouldn't want to live!" Aurora was extremely emotional.
"I'm fine. I had dinner with Marcus before coming back."
She took out her phone, showing a photo of her having dinner with Marcus.
Esme said as she crushed her handkerchief, "Catherine, I was so worried. I saw those people manhandling you. Are you really okay?"
Catherine was speechless.
'Are you trying to make the Windsor family think the kidnappers did something to me? Couldn't you come up with a more sophisticated tactic?'
"I'm fine."
Esme hid the resentment in her eyes.
'Why? Why does Marcus care so much about Catherine, a wild girl who had just returned home? Once Marcus gets to know me better, he would realize I am the most suitable granddaughter for the Windsor family. Blood ties don't matter at all! I am determined to drive Catherine out of the Windsor family!'
