Chapter 330 Refusing to Meet with Evander
Catherine was such a great kid!
Even someone as picky as Arabella could see how much Alexander liked Catherine.
Not to mention, Catherine had been defending Alexander wholeheartedly in front of Vivienne's photo!
Arabella had noticed all of this.
In her eyes, Catherine was the perfect wife for Alexander. How dare Franklin make Catherine unhappy!
With that thought, Arabella was even more determined to get an explanation for Catherine!
"Catherine, don't worry. I'm going to make sure Franklin ends up in the hospital for a month. Let's see how he plans to cause trouble then! As for the other issues at school, you don't need to worry about them. I'll handle everything for you."
Catherine was about to say something when Arabella impatiently interrupted her.
"You and Alexander should go on dates, fall in love, do whatever you need to do. These matters are not for you to concern yourself with. Just buy some clothes and bags. Use Alexander's card as much as you want!"
"Don't even think about saving money for Alexander. After all, his money will be yours in the future!"
Hearing Arabella casually arrange Alexander's finances, with every word showing her support for Catherine, Alexander couldn't help but smile wryly.
There was a strange noise on the other end of the phone. Arabella grabbed her weapon and prepared to head to Imperial University to confront Franklin.
"Don't worry about the rest. We're still here! Go shopping, and don't come home until you've maxed out Alexander's card!"
After arranging Catherine and Alexander's date, Arabella hung up the phone.
Listening to the busy tone on the other end, Catherine felt a bit helpless.
Brad always said Arabella had a bad temper. Now it seemed Arabella was not only bad-tempered but also quite volatile...
One could imagine that Franklin's day wouldn't be going too well!
---
At the hospital, in Paloma's room.
A large pile of documents was placed beside the bed. Whenever she had time, Paloma would review her past research findings.
Juniper took the documents from her hand. "Your body hasn't recovered yet. Don't look at these stressful things."
Seeing Juniper, Paloma immediately showed a gentle smile.
"I'm just looking, not thinking. It's just to exercise my eyes."
Although it was all her own work, it had been too long. The data and experimental samples had been submitted, and her mind was foggy.
Looking at research-related things was still too tiring.
Paloma had only managed to read one paper during this time, and there were many parts she didn't understand.
"Juniper, help me look at this data."
Juniper examined it carefully and frowned. "Your previous research direction is different from mine. This data... maybe Mr. Howard should take a look."
Paloma used to be in the same research group as Evander.
If she wanted to understand her own work, finding Evander would indeed be a faster approach.
There were also many classified documents that Juniper didn't have the clearance to access.
Paloma was slightly taken aback, then composed herself. "I... don't really want to see him, but I do want a copy of these documents. Could you tell him for me?"
After so many years, Paloma didn't know how to face Evander!
Fortunately, besides their shared past, they had Juniper.
Juniper agreed and then tentatively said, "Mr. Howard wants to meet with you."
Paloma smiled and shook her head.
She gently stroked Juniper's hair, her eyes filled with warmth.
"Having you is enough. Thinking about anything else just gives me a headache. As long as I have you, that's all I need."
"I've been sick for so many years, like living in a fog. Now I look terrible, and I don't want him to see me like this."
After the surgery, Paloma had lost a lot of hair. Just thinking about her appearance made her feel a bit ridiculous.
"He wouldn't care. To him, the fact that you're alive is the greatest comfort."
"You don't understand, Juniper. The person I need to face isn't your father or my former lover, but my past self."
Evander represented Paloma's past.
She couldn't calmly let her twenty-year-old self see her current state, lying in a hospital bed, barely clinging to life after a fierce battle with death.
Her former dreams and promises had all turned into illusions!
For Paloma, facing her years of seclusion was truly embarrassing.
Especially when she saw Juniper, it was like seeing her younger self, full of ambition and vitality.
Paloma smiled faintly. "Let's just let things happen naturally. As long as I have you by my side, I'm content."
Dashiell walked in from outside, handing Juniper a medical report.
"Paloma's condition is stable now. She just needs to rest and not be disturbed."
"Thank you."
Looking at Dashiell, Paloma remembered Tiberius's situation.
"Tiberius's funeral..."
"It was kept simple and has been taken care of. My parents said they won't be coming back and asked me to apologize to you and Juniper on their behalf."
"That's fine. Thank you for your hard work."
"Paloma, you're too kind. Don't be too sad about some things. God has sent Juniper as your compensation. Everything will get better."
Paloma shook her head calmly and said seriously, "Juniper is a person, not compensation. Even if she hadn't come back to me, she would still be the Windsor family's treasure. My presence is just an added bonus."
For Paloma, Juniper's existence was her salvation, but she also knew how much the Windsor family cherished Juniper!
"Aurora shared her daughter with me. That's God's gift, not compensation."
"You're right."
Paloma looked tired. After Juniper tucked her in and lulled her to sleep, she left the room with Dashiell.
Juniper was wearing a simple dress with a uniquely stitched cardigan adorned with handmade bead flowers, giving it a distinctive look amidst the chaos.
Dashiell glanced at it a few times and couldn't help but ask, "Is Juniper's outfit a custom piece from a brand?"
Thinking it over, Dashiell couldn't recall any major brand releasing such a piece.
Could it be that the Windsor family only showed superficial care for Juniper?
With that thought, Dashiell's mind began to race...
If the Windsor family didn't care that much about Juniper, what he wanted to do would be much easier!
Juniper looked down at her sweater and proudly said, "My mom knitted this for me! Catherine and I both have one!"
