Chapter 145 Elodie Stayed with Her the Whole Time.

Catherine sat in the car, looking totally uninterested. Her eyes were stunning and full of life, her red lips slightly parted, giving off this cool, elegant vibe. She was both gorgeous and distant.

Michael felt a bit uneasy seeing her like that. "Ms. Windsor, I really want to be friends with you. Mr. Howard isn't right for you. Would you consider being with me?"

Even Jared thought Michael was nuts. Catherine had already made herself clear, but he was acting like he didn't get it.

Jared quickly pulled out his phone, coughed twice, and started his act. "Mr. Howard! I'm Ms. Windsor's driver. We met last time. Ms. Windsor came to the bank to get something, and this guy who didn't know his place suggested she leave you!"

Jared grinned at Michael. "Mr. Hughes, want to have a chat with Mr. Howard? He said he wants to get to know you."

Michael couldn't believe that Catherine's driver actually called Alexander right in front of him! If Alexander found out he was trying to steal his fiancée, he'd be in big trouble. Meeting Catherine's icy stare, Michael gritted his teeth. "We'll meet again, and you'll regret your choice today."

Michael turned and walked away.

Jared handed the phone to Catherine, and Alexander's voice came through. "Why didn't you tell me someone was bothering you? Michael Hughes, I'll remember him."

"I'm fine, I just ran into him on the street," Catherine explained.

"I didn't even know you were going to the bank today. Michael just happened to run into you there? Quite the tactic!" Alexander tugged at his tie, his gaze cold as he looked at the documents in front of him. But his tone was super gentle, "How about lunch today?"

"No need, I have some things to do later," she replied.

"Then how about dinner?"

"No need, I have to go back to the lab tonight."

"Then let's have a late-night snack together. I'll come pick you up."

Hearing this, Catherine sensed a hint of pleading in Alexander's tone. 'The president of the Howard Group, who scares everyone, probably doesn't even know what pleading is, right?' she thought.

Alexander urged, "Hurry up and agree. I still have a meeting to attend. If my subordinates hear me talking like this, I'll lose my authority in the company."

Catherine couldn't imagine what it would be like if the company's employees heard Alexander speaking in such a tone. It would indeed be quite a sight. Helplessly, she nodded and agreed. "Alright."

After hanging up the phone, Alexander's tone instantly turned cold and full of chill. "Annie, bring me all the recent collaborations with the Hughes family."

"Yes, sir. Are we going to terminate our cooperation with them?"

Alexander coldly smiled, squinting his eyes slightly, filled with icy intent. "We'll take over all the Hughes family's collaborations. Daring to harass my fiancée, the Hughes family will pay the price."

Annie was shocked, thinking, 'Someone from the Hughes family dares to harass our boss's wife! Catherine, who is so gentle, elegant, and good-tempered, must have been extremely annoyed if she encounters those rascals from the Hughes family!'

"Yes! Rest assured! I will defend Ms. Windsor with my life!" Annie said.

Alexander glanced at Annie, his gaze light.

Annie immediately corrected herself. "Ms. Windsor can only be our boss's wife! With such an excellent fiancé like you, no man can take Ms. Windsor away."

'I almost forgot that Alexander even gets jealous of me. I'm just an ordinary employee who admires Catherine. Imagine how much jealousy Alexander must feel with all of Catherine's brothers around.' Annie thought, feeling a bit bitter.

Alexander shifted his gaze, nodded, and picked up his phone. The screen background was filled with pictures of Catherine, and he never seemed to get enough of her. Anyone who dared to mess with Catherine wouldn't get away with it!

Inside Evergreen Bank, Catherine held the key to the safety deposit box and found the items Elodie had left behind. The box contained some simple jewelry, including a bracelet Elodie always wore.

There was also a letter: [Catherine, by the time you read this letter, I will be gone. These items are what I've left for you. There are many things I haven't told you, all to protect you. Catherine, you are the person I love most in this life. I hope you will always be healthy, happy, and joyful. After I'm gone, don't go back to the Smith family. They don't treat you well, and I won't bless them. If you have the chance, find your own family. Don't mind those who treat you poorly. I will always protect you.]

The letter wasn't too long or too short, but it made Catherine burst into tears. 'Grandma! When did you write this letter, and how did you feel coming here alone to store these items? You must have been worried the Smith family would fight me for these things, so you prepared in advance and entrusted them to Neil. These are all the things you accumulated over your lifetime. I remember that bracelet from when I was very young. Oliver once said he needed money for business and asked you to sell the bracelet, but you didn't agree. Later, I never saw the bracelet again and thought you had given it to Oliver! It turns out you left your most precious belongings to me! You always knew I wasn't a child of the Smith family! You were thinking of me until the very end!'

Catherine's face was covered in tears, her voice choked. "Grandma, you said there were many things you didn't tell me. What are they? It's okay. I'll find out myself if you didn't want to tell me."

Catherine wiped away her tears, carefully collected all the items, and put them back in the safety deposit box. After thinking for a moment, she opened the box again and took out the bracelet, wearing it on her wrist, as if Elodie was always with her!

As she walked out of the safety deposit box area, the bank manager approached her. "Miss, this bank card contains six million dollars. You have the right to handle it."

'Six million dollars? How did Grandma have so much money? No wonder Oliver was still thinking about the money Elodie left behind!' Catherine thought.

"Give me the bank card. Keep the items in the safety deposit box as they are, and leave the money intact," Catherine ordered.

"Yes, ma'am."

Evergreen Bank was a Windsor family business, and the bank manager looked at Catherine as if she were their own boss, even more kindly than their actual boss!

Everyone knew that pleasing Catherine was the same as pleasing Charles! "Miss, Mr. Windsor has ordered that there are your shares in our bank, so you can just instruct me directly if you need anything!"

'There are also my shares in Evergreen Bank?' Catherine thought as she walked out of the bank, looking at the bracelet on her wrist, feeling as if Elodie was always with her.
