Chapter 118 Sign the Divorce Agreement
Neil looked up at the helicopter, totally blown away. 'Seriously? Now sports cars can turn into planes? This tech is next level!'
The Brown family rushed to the entrance of Cloudscape Villa. "Neil, didn't you say Catherine was back? Where is she?"
Neil pointed at the helicopter. "You wanna try chasing that?"
Anouk thought, 'A helicopter? How are we supposed to chase that? We need Catherine to marry Brent so Oliver can pay off his huge gambling debts! Now she's gone, and we're screwed!'
"Neil, do you know who bought this house? How could it be sold and Catherine still come back to live here?" Anouk asked.
Neil laughed and lit a cigarette. "Yeah, Catherine's family bought it for her. This place is hers now, so forget about it."
'Wait, this house belongs to Catherine?' The Brown family was stunned.
"Didn't Oliver say Catherine's family was just poor folks raising chickens in Tranquil County? How do they have so much money to buy a house for Catherine?" Anouk asked.
"Oliver must've lied. Catherine's family definitely isn't poor! Otherwise, how could she ride in a helicopter? I think her marrying Brent is a great idea!" Declan guessed.
'If Catherine's family is loaded, then Brent's debts are nothing, and we'll be living the high life!' With that thought, the Brown family left, grinning.
Neil watched them leave and quietly dialed Charles's number. When Cloudscape Villa was being renovated, Charles had secretly given Neil his number, telling him to call if needed.
When Neil called, Charles was watching surveillance footage, thinking, 'Good thing Alexander hasn't done anything crazy and is taking care of Catherine. He even arranges meals to her taste, like he's done it a million times.'
"Mr. Windsor, the Brown family is interested in Catherine. They want her to marry that gambler from their family," Neil reported.
"What? They think they can have my sister? Got it!" Charles hung up and kept watching the video.
Seeing Catherine upset over past events made Charles's heart ache, and he wanted to tear apart those who had wronged her!
Luckily, Alexander knew how to comfort Catherine, making himself seem more tolerable for now.
Philip walked in. "Charles, the Johnson family and the Smith family want to settle things with money. They're asking for a private settlement. What do you think?"
"Ten million dollars, not a penny less, or they go to jail." Charles had no intention of going easy on them. Ten million dollars would be enough to ruin both families, likely forcing them to sell some properties to come up with the money.
"Why not just lock them up for a few days?" Philip asked.
"No need. If they're locked up, they'll just get medical parole and be comfortable in a hospital. Let them come out and deal with their illnesses," Charles said.
Oliver's and Steven's money would be spent on avoiding jail time, making it much harder for them to afford medical treatment.
Among the Windsor siblings, Charles, as the eldest, seemed the most harmless but was actually the most cunning!
Meanwhile, the helicopter landed on the lawn of Bright Heal Hospital, creating a gust of wind. After taxiing, it transformed back into a sports car and drove into the underground parking lot.
Alexander took gifts out of the trunk and walked over to Catherine. "These are for Marcus and Felix, as a discharge gift."
Catherine glanced sideways and asked, "When did you prepare these?"
"I've been planning to bring you back home for a while. I figured Marcus and Felix wouldn't be too happy, so I got some gifts to smooth things over," Alexander replied.
As soon as they walked into the ward, Marcus quickly sat back down, pretending he hadn't been craning his neck just moments ago. "What took you so long?"
"We went to pay respects to my grandmother yesterday," Catherine explained.
Marcus nodded and sighed. "That's the right thing to do. Next time, when I'm better, I'll go with you. Mrs. Smith is a benefactor to our entire Windsor family, and we should thank her more."
No one in the Windsor family looked down on Elodie; they were all grateful to her for raising Catherine with such care.
Alexander handed the gifts to Marcus and Felix. "Catherine and I got these for you. Congrats on your discharge."
Marcus' and Felix's faces lit up. "Catherine, you're so thoughtful. Let's see what you got."
Catherine didn't know what Alexander had prepared either. When they opened the boxes, they found Quinn's new autumn scarves and hats. She rarely made clothes herself, but this scarf and hat were made from the latest fabric developed by the Galactic Aurora Collective. To test the softness and skin-friendliness of the fabric, Catherine had made these items. Unexpectedly, Alexander had bought them and split them into two gifts.
Felix immediately put on the hat, beaming. "How do I look?"
Not to be outdone, Marcus put on the scarf. "Catherine, do I look handsome?"
"Very handsome. This scarf and hat are made from fabric developed by Juniper's lab. They're not even on the market yet," Catherine said.
Juniper's lab collaborated with the Galactic Aurora Collective. The fabric's raw materials came from the chickens, and the Galactic Aurora Collective processed them into their current form.
"Developed by Juniper? No wonder she's our Windsor family granddaughter—so smart and capable!" Marcus said proudly.
Felix leaned in. "Does Juniper have a boyfriend? There are other grandsons in the Howard family. Maybe Juniper can pick one?"
"Shameless! Juniper said she only loves research in this lifetime. Do any of your grandsons have the intelligence to match Juniper?" Marcus retorted.
Felix was not pleased. "What's wrong with my grandsons' intelligence? Alexander's uncle graduated with a PhD at twenty and is Juniper's lab supervisor!"
"He's fifty now. There's no point in saying anything," Marcus said.
Catherine looked helpless. Judging by their energy, Marcus and Felix seemed to be in great health.
Alexander quietly held her hand. "Let them argue. They'll have plenty to argue about in the future."
Felix wanted to live in the Sunlit Mansion at Starry Residence to see Catherine every day. Marcus also wanted to see Catherine every day, so he decided to live in Moonlight Mansion. After their discharge, Marcus and Felix would still be neighbors.
Andrew peeked in from outside and reported, "Mr. Marcus Windsor, Mrs. Lila Windsor says she wants to see you."
Marcus snorted, "Please take the divorce papers to her and ask her to sign them before bringing them back to me."
"Yes, sir!"
Catherine and Alexander left Bright Heal Hospital with Marcus and Felix.
Lila was still waiting in the ward for Marcus, but all she got was a divorce agreement, already signed and sealed!
This wasn't a divorce agreement; it was a divorce notice!
"I don't agree!" Lila couldn't believe what she was seeing and thought Marcus couldn't divorce her. "Marcus is so heartless. He must have cheated with some shameless woman!"
Andrew looked at Lila, feeling quite awkward. "I've delivered what Mr. Windsor arranged. Please sign it."
Lila was furious. Looking at the divorce papers and property division agreement in her hands, she slumped onto the bed in despair.
If she really signed, she would have no connection to the Windsor family anymore!
