Chapter 234 Catherine Was in Charge of the Windsor Family Affairs
Aurora stared at her phone, shaking with rage.
Marcus had only one kid, Brandon, and after he split from Lila, Aurora called the shots.
There weren't many rules at home, and Aurora was always nice to the maids. She never thought there'd be a traitor right under her nose!
Lucy took a few steps back, her legs shaking, but she still tried to defend herself. "Madam, Lila told me to take those things out. It wasn't my idea."
Most of the videos Lucy filmed were at the Windsor Mansion, especially around the building where Lila lived.
Catherine chuckled. "The money in your account was all sent to your son. None of it went to Lila."
Lucy had sold a bunch of the Windsor Family's stuff for cheap, and after Lila and Marcus divorced, the old house was practically empty!
As the sales piled up, so did the money in Lucy's account.
Catherine's tone was cold. "Lucy, your son bought a house in Imperia City last month. As far as I know, he doesn't even have a job. Relying on your support to buy a house in full, neither your husband nor your sons have jobs. It's not easy for you, Lucy."
Lucy had more than one son, and she managed to buy houses in the city center of Imperia City for each of them, all thanks to her efforts!
But Lucy knew exactly how much effort she put into this.
After working for the Windsor Family for so many years, Lucy simply let her sons stop working.
If she lost this job, her sons wouldn't survive in the future.
"Madam, please don't fire me. I was forced to do it. Every time I sold something, I gave a lot of the money to Lila! It was all Lila who forced me!" Lucy pleaded.
Aurora was livid, her eyebrows raised. "Save those words for the police!"
Lucy knew that Aurora only listened to Catherine now. As long as Catherine spoke up for her, Aurora wouldn't do much even if she was mad.
So she knelt in Catherine's direction, begging continuously, muttering under her breath. "Miss, I didn't mean to, please don't send me to jail. I'm old, and I raised several of the Windsor Family's children."
Catherine raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking, 'Does Lucy think that by playing the age card and begging me, I will soften and let her go? This tactic is too low-level.'
Catherine moved slightly, her gaze filled with disdain. "The only one you raised is Esme, and she now has the last name Hughes, not Windsor. As for jail, it's the best place for you right now."
Lucy's social media accounts had disappeared from the internet, and the Windsor Group had contacted those who reposted Lucy's videos to have them deleted.
Charles pressed his temples, speaking coldly, "The police are already waiting for you. The properties you bought with illegal income will be reclaimed by the Windsor Family. Your sons better hurry to find a spot under the bridge!"
If they were late, they might not even find a place.
Lucy collapsed to the ground! "No! I've worked for the Windsor Family for so many years, please don't do this to me. It was all Esme and Lila who forced me to do it. I'm really innocent!"
Catherine raised an eyebrow. "Then let the police look into Esme and Lila too. It's time to clean out the parasites the Windsor Family has been supporting for so long."
Her gaze swept over the row of household staff standing behind. "Since Lucy's got bad intentions, you all should be investigated too!"
The staff panicked at the thought of being investigated! Compared to Lucy, they were only slightly better, but not by much.
"Madam, you're still in charge of this house. Catherine just got back and is already trying to throw her weight around."
"Yeah, Madam. We've been here for years, and now we're being investigated. It's not fair."
"Catherine just came back from the countryside, she doesn't get the Windsor Family's rules at all."
Aurora rubbed her temples, unusually stern. "Whatever Catherine says goes! This house doesn't have to listen to me, but it must listen to Catherine! This house belongs to Catherine, we're just staying here. She can handle it however she wants! As members of the Windsor Family, you dare to disrespect Catherine in front of me. If I weren't here, would you have laid hands on her?"
Brandon chimed in, "Exactly! As long as Catherine is happy."
Brandon regretted not seeing Catherine grow up, missing out on the tender moments of a father putting his daughter on his shoulders to watch fireworks.
Juniper had always been mature, preferring to study and read over participating in what she considered childish activities.
Brandon never experienced what it was like to raise a sweet, soft daughter!
The police soon arrived to take away the household staff, and even Dylan went to watch the commotion, claiming that innocent people didn't need to prove their innocence but had to live up to Marcus's trust.
Aurora sat at the dining table, sighing. "This happened because I didn't manage things well."
If Catherine hadn't discovered what Lucy was doing, Aurora would have been completely unaware.
Aurora had been pampered by Samuel and Grace since childhood, and after marriage, Brandon took great care of her. The biggest setback she faced was Lila, but she was inherently kind and forgiving.
Marcus put down his newspaper, removed his reading glasses, his sharp eyes filled with loving kindness. "Alright, it's a small matter. It's resolved now. From now on, let the kids handle the household affairs."
Aurora was a good daughter-in-law, and Marcus believed that if Brandon hadn't been so persistent, he wouldn't have been worthy of Aurora, wondering how he and Elodie, both smart people, ended up with a son who had nothing but looks. "Aurora, you've worked hard. This isn't your fault! Just because you're kind doesn't mean you'll receive kindness in return. Catherine handled this well, so from now on, let her take care of things at Starry Residence. You deserve a break."
Marcus had seen many deceitful people over the years.
He had been observing Catherine as she handled the situation, thinking, 'Catherine is more resilient than Aurora, smarter than Brandon, and knows when to advance and retreat. This granddaughter is simply perfect! No wonder she was raised by Elodie!'
