Chapter 276 Not Interested in Your Barking

Juniper's eyes widened a bit as she thought, 'Is Evander seriously lying right now? Arabella's clearly making a beeline for Franklin! And he's saying she has bad eyesight? I've never seen an old lady with bad eyesight who can spot a loose thread on her clothes first thing in the morning. Arabella even noticed a piece of chicken with sauce on it and used the chance to curse out the entire Howard Family.'

Evander, trying to sound sincere, said, "Mr. Morales, I'll cover all your expenses at our resort! Consider it my apology."

Franklin, still a bit dazed, opened his eyes slightly and looked at Evander. "Are you saying Arabella has bad eyesight?"

"It's not just bad eyesight; my mom is blind!" Evander pinched himself hard, forcing a few more tears.

Franklin was taken aback, thinking they were in the same social circle, and he had never heard that Arabella was blind. He frowned and sat up straight. "When did this happen?"

"My mom's been in a nursing home for years because of her bad eyesight. She didn't want to come back and make us sad," Evander said.

Juniper lowered her head, covering her mouth, trying not to burst out laughing.

From Franklin's angle, Juniper looked like she was sobbing, her shoulders shaking.

Franklin bought it, but he was still a bit skeptical. He clearly remembered someone kicking him in the back, and it didn't seem like it came from someone with bad eyesight. "Forget it. If her eyesight is bad, let her not fish anymore. Let's just drop it."

"You're so generous! I'll definitely have my mom apologize to you!" Evander said.

"No need. She's old. Let her rest. You should leave; I need some rest," Franklin said.

Evander said a few more polite words before leaving with Juniper.

After closing the door, Juniper turned and hugged Catherine, who was walking towards her, burying her head in her shoulder and laughing uncontrollably.

Juniper now realized how good Evander was at lying through his teeth!

Evander said seriously, "Did you think being a leader at a research institute doesn't require some pretense? Say enough polite words, and you'll get the hang of it too."

Juniper laughed so hard her face turned red. "What if Franklin finds out Arabella isn't actually blind?"

Evander shrugged nonchalantly. "Prof. Gavin's medical skills are excellent. After coming home, Arabella's mood improved, and seeing you, Alexander, and Catherine every day, she miraculously regained her sight. Is that good enough?"

Besides, Franklin and Arabella might not even have a chance to meet.

Even if Franklin found out Arabella kicked him on purpose, he wouldn't have a place to complain.

It seemed Evander had said such things many times before.

Juniper raised an eyebrow. "With this side of you, I find you less annoying!"

She usually hated Evander's calm and rigid demeanor, always feeling they had nothing in common.

Then Evander even smiled a little!

Catherine also didn't expect Evander to have such a personality.

A surprised voice came from the doorway of the next room. "Catherine."

Clara was wearing a simple white dress, the same one she wore the day Catherine left the Smith Family, now washed to a faded white. She stood awkwardly at the door, looking at the adored Catherine.

Catherine was rocking a slightly oversized knitted cardigan over a fitted dress. The petals on the hem of the dress looked as lively as real flowers, showing off her long legs, with brown leather shoes on her feet. Her outfit was on point, and she had this cold, commanding vibe like a queen, totally different from Clara!

Clara had tagged along with Ezekiel since they were at the Howard Family's estate, and Ezekiel had business here. She had to beg Solon to bring her along. Seeing the stunning Catherine and the tall, elegant Alexander beside her, Clara felt a pang of jealousy. She had seen Alexander at Ezekiel's estate before and several times with Catherine. After some digging, She found out he was the head of the Howard Group, with assets worth billions, running a global business empire! Plus, Alexander had this strong presence, tall stature, and handsome features that could make women worldwide swoon.

Seeing him made Clara's heart race as she thought, 'Ezekiel is trying so hard to gain power from the Howard Group through Alexander! Why does Catherine get to be with such a man? First, it was Charles from the Windsor Family, and now it's the president of the Howard Group. Why is Catherine so lucky? She must have used some underhanded means to mess around with them. Why can't these good things happen to me?' Clara was twisted with jealousy.

Clara took a couple of steps forward. "Catherine, are you working as a cleaner here? If you're having a hard time, you can tell me so you don't need to face a difficult decision about your pregnancy." 'If I make up stories about her messy personal life, he will surely abandon her!' Clara thought.

As soon as she finished speaking, Esme came out of the room, her eyes lighting up at the sight of Alexander! "Mr. Howard, please save me. I don't want to go to jail."

Juniper frowned at the two of them. "Esme, are you still causing trouble outside? Are you so broke that you have to share a room with someone? Or do you have some unknown hobby?" Her gaze fell on the pretentious Clara. "You should raise your standards. Good luck."

It was a blatant insult! Esme's eyes filled with tears. "Juniper, why would you say that about me? I didn't do what happened to Richard. I was framed! It must be Catherine's jealousy!"

Catherine raised an eyebrow disdainfully. "What do you have that's worth my jealousy? Bullying at school or buying dirt to harm the Windsor Family? Charles knows about you going after his girlfriend. Take care of yourself."

Esme panicked, wondering how Catherine knew those were old stories. Back then, Esme did want to marry Charles after growing up and smoothly inherit the Windsor Family's fortune, but Charles never looked at her. "I did it all for Charles. That woman was just after his money!" Esme said.

Catherine sneered, "You weren't after Charles's money? Or do you want the entire Windsor Family's fortune?"

Esme, her true intentions exposed, looked evasive. She bit her lip and looked at Alexander. "Mr. Howard, I have something very important to tell you. You'll regret your engagement with Catherine once you hear it. Lila told me that, so it's absolutely true! You have to believe me!"

Alexander glanced at her indifferently and nodded. "Got it, but I'm not interested in your barking. Now get lost!"
