Chapter 302 Let Emilia Confess Her Love?
George had never experienced what it felt like to have a crush on someone!
"What is a crush?" he asked.
"It's when thinking about someone makes your heart feel both sour and sweet. Or imagine if Emilia confessed her feelings to you, would you accept?"
Just thinking about that scene made George's lips curl up, his eyes filled with anticipation, and his eyes sparkled. He was already the most refined child in the Windsor family, and his smile made him even more charming!
George realized he might be smiling a bit too happily and reached up to pat his lips. "I definitely wouldn't accept! No matter what, I have to play it cool. I'll wait for her to confess to me! Don't worry, Catherine, I have my own pace. I won't let her take the initiative!"
Catherine raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
If they waited for Emilia to confess to George, Catherine wasn't sure that day would ever come.
George glanced at his surgery schedule, turned around, took off his white coat, and put it in the locker, and then walked out!
As he was leaving, he ran into Juniper, who was coming back from buying shoes. Seeing George rushing out of the hospital, Juniper was a bit puzzled. "George, where are you going? In such a hurry."
George didn't look back and walked away briskly. "To find my future wife to confess to me!"
Juniper was stunned, thinking, 'People really shouldn't study medicine; look, this is driving another one crazy!'
Going to find his future wife was one thing, but having her confess to him?
With George's routine of hospital, lab, and home, any wife he had would probably be a figment of his imagination.
Philip also concluded, "He's crazy."
Catherine shrugged and quickly chose to join Juniper and Philip. "Agreed."
In Paloma's ward, Arabella sat on a chair beside her, looking at the sleeping Paloma.
Owen sat across from her, both elderly people silent, each sighing.
"Owen, you insisted on adopting two kids, and now you're facing the consequences," Arabella said.
"Was it my choice to bring them back? I didn't have a choice back then!"
Arabella snorted, her drooping eyelids unmoving, her mouth turned down, looking harsh and unapproachable. "No choice? If you insist on being a bastard, of course, you have no choice."
"Arabella, can't you speak like a normal person?"
"That depends on whether you're deserving. Even if I speak in plain language, you wouldn't understand."
Owen was exasperated, but over the years, he had never won an argument with Arabella. Arabella's sharp tongue was famous for sparing no one! "This is your child. If you don't feel sorry for her, who will?"
Owen wiped his face. "Tiberius is already gone. I feel sorry for Paloma. Besides staying with her, what else can I do? I can't exactly dig Tiberius out of his grave and whip his corpse, can I?"
"It's not impossible." Arabella glanced at Paloma, reached out to touch her hand, and sighed with a complex expression. "Owen, you can't punish the child for your mistakes. Don't you agree?"
Arabella's eyes were a bit moist, perhaps recalling some sad memories. She turned to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Seeing Arabella's slightly trembling shoulders, Owen also sighed. "I know you feel sorry for Paloma. When she was little, you said you wished she could be your daughter-in-law. But back then, Paloma discovered something she shouldn't have known. Besides hiding her, what else could I do?"
Over the years, Owen had deliberately concealed Paloma's existence.
Partly because of Paloma's illness, and partly because he didn't want more people to know that Paloma was still alive!
Owen said helplessly, "Paloma's mind isn't well. I'm somewhat relieved that she forgets things, but when I see Juniper, I regret it!"
Tears streamed down his face, and he wiped them away roughly. "If I had known about Juniper earlier, Paloma would have gotten better. Paloma is my only child; how could I bear to lose her?"
The eldest son of the Harrison family was an adopted child, a fact few people knew.
Paloma was Owen's only daughter, and over the years, she still held the largest share of the Harrison family's assets!
This was also why Tiberius had gone to great lengths to marry into the Windsor family.
Mentioning Juniper, Arabella also sighed. "Juniper is a good child. Don't mistreat her. Our Howard family won't mistreat her either. I've already made a will; all my inheritance goes to Juniper! This is what the Howard family owes her."
Arabella's eyes were clear as she raised her cane and poked Owen! "But Juniper doesn't lack money. What we can give, the Windsor family and Samuel have also given plenty! What she wants is her mother! Forget it, this is your own business. You can't even handle it properly. It's fine if you die, but don't let my granddaughter be without a mother!"
Arabella stood up shakily, her hands trembling. "I already have three grandsons without a mother. I can't bear to see them looking at me with those hopeful eyes, asking if their mother will ever come back!"
Thinking of Alexander and his brothers' looks, Arabella felt her heart being torn apart!
Just as she walked out of the ward, Arabella bumped into Juniper and the others heading this way.
Juniper approached, "Grandma, what are you doing here?"
"Came to see your mother and Owen. Juniper, were you scared?"
Juniper shook her head and then nodded.
She was indeed scared, but after crying in Philip's arms, she felt much better, and her emotions were relieved!
"It's good that you're okay. These days, make sure someone is always watching your mother, preferably without leaving her side. Check all her medications carefully, and don't make any mistakes!" Arabella's expression was serious as she held Juniper's hand and gave detailed instructions, more meticulous than caring for a patient. After speaking, she left.
Juniper also found it a bit strange, watching Arabella's departing figure, and said in surprise, "Why does Grandma seem like she's guarding against spies?"
Juniper's job made her sensitive to such matters.
Arabella's instructions were so detailed that she even mentioned checking the surveillance in Paloma's ward daily!
Catherine watched Arabella leave alone. Why did she feel like Arabella knew something?
Entering the ward, Owen was wiping his tears while looking at Paloma. "You're here. Find a place to sit. I've wronged Paloma. If I had known Tiberius would turn out like this, I wouldn't have agreed to adopt him back then!"
Juniper asked in confusion, "Tiberius was adopted by you?"
Owen nodded. "Yes, I adopted him and his brothers! Back then, Franklin brought them to me, and I couldn't refuse. If I had known, I would never have agreed! I just thought if I didn't take them in, Franklin would send them to the Galactic Aurora Collective for experiments. I couldn't bear it!"
Owen never imagined that his act of kindness would end up harming his daughter!
Catherine's eyebrows twitched. "Mr. Harrison, do you know about Franklin and the Galactic Aurora Collective?"
Owen shook his head and sighed. "How could I not know? Didn't I also come from that place back then?"
